WHAT IS ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
Additive manufacturing (AM) is the industrial production name for 3D printing, a
computer controlled process that creates three dimensional objects by depositing
materials, usually in layers.
Using computer aided design (CAD) or 3D object scanners, additive manufacturing
allows for the creation of objects with precise geometric shapes. These are built layer
by layer which is in contrast to traditional manufacturing that often requires
machining or other techniques to remove surplus material.
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING STANDARDS
• Three key standards should be considered when developing a strategy for
adopting and applying AM:
• Product or part design
• Production and the materials used in the production of those parts
• Data that makes up the AM process, or the “digital thread”
• Modern industrial applications rely on a strong base of accuracy and
precision that is repeatable. A strategy for handling these three key areas
when using AM is important if one is to achieve the level of accuracy,
precision, and repeatability that has come to be expected by the
marketplace.
AM PROCESSES

• 1- Producing a digital model computer-aided

design (CAD) using one of deferent software's ( 3D
Max , Auto CAD …)
• 2- convert a CAD model into an STL
(stereolithography) file
• 3- prepare the printer machine for the print, verify
the row materials like risen liquid, PLA role filament....
• 4- Start printing,
• 5- Remove printed supports and clean the model
printed.
• 6- SLA printed models requires a UV before handling
but FDM can be delivered right away.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF 3D PRINTING

DISADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
 HIGH ACCURACY AND RESOLUTION THE PROCESS OF PRINTING IS
LARGE CHOICE OF STARTING SLOW
MATERIAL COMPONENT DO NOT HAVE
COST EFFECTIVE ENOUGH STRENGTH
 ALLOW US TO MAKE COMPLICATED 3D PRINTERS ARE STILL EXPENSIVE
DESIGN MODELS. EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT AND
MATERIALS
INDUSTRIES OF APPLICATION
MATERIALS USED IN THE PROCESSING
• When designing a part or prototype that will interfere with other components, it is
important to define the necessary material and machine used during the print,
however there is verity of materiuals used during the processing:
• 1- Polymer
• 2- metales
• 3- Sand
• 4- Thermoset
• 5- thermoplastic
So there is defrent materials for deferent process models of 3D print:
 FDM : Nylon, ABS, PLA
 SLA : deferent type of resin ( standard, clair, durable....)
 SLS: Nylon, PA , TPU
 DMLS : titanum , Alluminum
 Binder jetting : sand, stanless Steel,
TYPE OF MANUFACTURING PROCESS

• There are four main families of standard manufacturing processes:

injection molding, machining, forming, and joining. Similar to 3D
printing, each manufacturing process has advantages and
limitations.
1. Injection molding: Injection molding is a fabrication process that
consists of softening a plastic material then injecting it into a mold.
Once in the mold
2. Machining: a piece of material is clamped into the machine, and a
numerically controlled tool removes material until the part is
completed
3. Forming: heats a sheet of plastic and drape it over a mold, using air
pressure and male plugs to form the sheet into a shape.
4. Joining: the joining of semi-finished parts using external fasteners
such as bolts and screws
WHY CHOOSING 3D PRINTING
MARKET COMPETITION
• Our main competiores in the UAE market right now are below companies :
• Generation 3D.
• IRIS 3D solution.
• Proto 21.
