BE-IST YEAR

ACADEMIC UNIT-1
UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING
Magnetic Circuits & Transformers
Unit-1 , BEEE (ELT-112)
Course Objectives
To make students understand the

• basics of Electrical Engineering and relate them to practical engineering problems.

•importance of comprehension of electrical systems so as to bring about solutions to

interdisciplinary-oriented problems involving Electrical Engg.

•concepts for designing application based electrical circuits and devices.

• need to get the basics right so as to address technical problems on local, national and
international levels.

•important aspects of electrical and electronics systems so as to enable him to determine his
areas of interest for placements/higher studies.
University Institute of Engg. BE-CSE BEEE EET-112
Learning Objectives

To make students understand the

•Terminology of magnetic circuits.

•Concept of self and mutual induction.
•Principle of operation of transformers.
•Construction of transformers
•Performance analysis of transformers

Applications

• Magnetic circuits find applications in most of the Electrical Machines

for the provision of Magnetic field.

• Transformers are essentially finding applications in Electrical Power

Transmission and Distribution Systems as well as in Electronic circuits
and devices requiring DC but being powered by AC.
