• Employment relationship;
• Resourcing;
• Performance management;
• Employee relations;
• Health and safety;
• Welfare services;
• Planning.

I: Managerial functions
 Is the basic managerial functions of
planning, organizing, directing and
controlling in relation to his department.

• Planning: It is the determination of strategies,


programmes, policies, and procedures to
accomplish organizational objectives.
• Organizing: It is a process of allocating the
task among the members for achieving
organizational objectives.

• Directing: It means telling people to do a


particular work and ensures that they
perform as per the directions.
• Controlling: It is the act of checking,
regulating and verifying whether everything
occurs as per the standards set and plans
adopted.

II: Operative Functions
These are concerned with employment,
development, compensation, integration and
maintenance of personnel of the organisation.

• Procurement: This function relates to the procuring


of sufficient and appropriate number of persons for
carrying out business work.
• Development: It is concerned with the development
of employees by increasing their skills and proficiency
in work
• Maintenance: This function deals with sustaining
and improving the working conditions

• Compensation: It is concerned with


securing adequate and equitable
remuneration (salary, wages, allowance,
payment etc) to persons working in the
organization.
• Integration: It is concerned with the
attempt to effect the reconciliation of
individual, organization and social interest

III: Advisory Functions
He/she is an expert in this area and so can
give advise on matters relating to human
resources of the organization.
