 Bing (formerly Live Search, Windows Live Search, and MSN
Search) is a web search engine or "decision engine" from Microsoft.

 Bing was unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May, 2009

at the “All Things Digital” conference in San Diego.

 It went fully online on June, 2009. Microsoft decided that the name
Bing was memorable, short, easy to spell, and that it would function
well as a URL around the world.

 The word would remind people of the sound made during "the
moment of discovery and decision making."
 The name also has strong similarity to the word 'bingo', which is
used to mean that something sought has been found or realized, as is
interjected when winning the game Bingo.

 Microsoft advertising strategist David Webster originally proposed

the name "Bang" for the same reasons the name Bing was ultimately
chosen (easy to spell, one syllable, and easy to remember).

 Ninety-nine percent of Google's revenue is derived from its advertising
programs.

 For the 2006 fiscal year, the company reported $10.492 billion in total
advertising revenues and only $112 million in licensing and other
revenues.

 Google has implemented various innovations in the online advertising
market that helped make them one of the biggest advertisers in the
market.

 Google can determine user interests and target advertisements so they

are relevant to their context and the user that is viewing them.
 Google Analytics allows website owners to track where and how
people use their website, allowing in-depth research to get users to go
where you want them to go.

 Google advertisements can be placed on third-party websites in a

two-part program.

 Google's Ad Words allows advertisers to display their advertisements

in the Google content network, through either a cost-per-click or cost-
per-view scheme.

 The sister service, Google Ad Sense, allows website owners to display

these advertisements on their website, and earn money every time ads
are clicked.

findings & Suggestions

 Half of the population is unaware of Bing. The service providers

could take measures to increase awareness of Bing by:

 Educating the customers that it is a newer version of MSN

 By having popup on webpage and inviting customer to try the
services being provided

 More than 70% of the respondents suggest that they would prefer
Google over Bing when it comes to speed and accuracy of the search
In our opinion after usage of both the search engines it was
found that the search results were fairly accurate and relevant.
Therefore it is advisable that Bing adopts various strategies to have a
better positioning in the minds of internet users.
 The internet service providers have a considerable scope in the
markets. This suggests that there is something that customers look
to apart from the services offered.

CONCLUSION

 Through the study we can sum up that Google is a preferred search

engine, compared to Bing when it comes to speed of page load and
the accuracy of search performed.

 Bing could consider some of the above mentioned suggestions and

bring about innovations in features being offered to increase its
market presence and popularize its search engine.
