ABSTRACT
The primary purpose of this study is to know the profitability of small and medium scale industries as perceived by the marketing students of San Beda College Manila Secondly, the research study is an output of information on the current trends on businesses today, and on the new line of successful businesses and products.

The Problem: Rationale and Background of the Study

Background
Small Scale Industries plays a very important part in the overall growth of an economy. The importance of this industry increases manifold due to its immense employment generating potential. SMIs are the largest employer segment in most economies.

Theoretical Framework
Most of the industries that makes an economy grow come from small and medium scale industries because not many can reach the point of being a large scale industry.

Scope and Limitations of the Study


Survey limited to 50 marketing students of San Beda College Mendiola Perceptions of Bedans on the profitability of small and medium scale industries in the country.

Significance of the Study


These are the people that will benefit:
Students, Teachers Marketers

specially marketing majors.

Definition of Terms
Industry- any general business activity Scale- is a series of steps. Also it identifies the level of business. Small- means little in size. Medium- means middle place.

Research Design
Descriptive research Articles related to the study will be used as references in interpreting the data that will be gathered. The whole research will be using descriptive approach in explaining the data gathered in visual forms like graphs.

Summary, Conclusion and Recommendations

Summary
There are four scales in business industries; there is micro, small, medium and large scale industries. Most of the time small and medium scale industries are put together as one, and it is called SMI. The importance of small and medium scale industries or SMI is that it gives the economy of a country the biggest share on its growth.

Conclusion
SMIs are sources of innovative products and marketing opportunities. SMIs are the small starting businesses hoping to become globally competitive in the near future. They are also the industries that contributed mostly to the countrys economic growth. Studies results says that small scale industries are more profitable than medium scale industries, simply because there are less expenses to deal with than with medium scale industries. starting capital is only the first problem that a small scale enterprise would encounter, but as soon as it profits, the business can get its capital back and earn profits from it. Medium scale industries do profit more than small scale industries but because it is bigger the larger the expenses it has.

Recommendations
The researchers would like to recommend this study not only to those who are marketers and marketing majors but also to those who are in the field of business and services because this study would be helpful for them to know what is the trend on businesses nowadays, what are the new line of successful businesses and products. Also to people that are planning to build their own company or business, theyll be aware of the ways or tips on becoming a successful businessman.
