New SD Default
Record Settings
New “Normal, Medium and Low” settings provide:-

• High performance recording on ALL cameras with minimal configuration

• Consistent recording duration and smooth motion video per camera

regardless of the number of cameras
– adding performance as we add cameras.

• With the SD Range we also add storage to maintain record duration

providing guaranteed 30 day and 60 day options.
What is Normal Rate
Recording?
• Normal Rate units are configured with default setting of 5pps per camera.
− 5pps is set as default for every camera recorded on 4, 8, 12 and 16 camera units with
storage options for recording up to 30 or 60 days.

• The installer is able to configure a Normal rate unit to record in different

easy to select modes:
- Continuous 5pps MPEG4 recording on all cameras (default)
- Continuous 1pps JPEG recording (Ideal for high motion content)
- 5pps MultiMode recording in both JPEG & MPEG (Ideal when suitable event/alarm
scenario available).
- If a target number of days recording is less than 30 or 60 days – the record quality settings
can be increased.
- The advanced record menu can also be individually configured by the installer to suit
specific requirements, so they still have the flexibility to set specific cameras to much higher
record rates. E.g. Entry/Exit routes.
Normal Rate Models

Normal Rate Recording Models:

• 30 Day Normal Rate (NR) Units

– 4, 8, 12 & 16 Channel Models

SD is a Flexible Recording
Solution
New defaults don’t mean loss of recording flexibility:-
• Increase record rate on high-priority cameras
– Entry/Exit Cameras
• If a target number of days recording is less than 30 or 60
days – the picture resolution can be increased
• Add Managed Storage Unit to extend recording
• Scheduled Recording, Day, Night & Weekend
• Event switching using MultiMode Recording
– MPEG4 to JPEG, QCIF to 2CIF
– Plus JPEG 4CIF

A Keyswitch can be used to set or
unset a system by authorised
personnel.
Note: Keyswitch and Schedules
are mutually exclusive
Email Feature of SD
Emails can be sent
automatically in response to
Alarm and Activity Detection
events.

Enter the address of the Mail

Server , Recipient and Server
details as required.

Use the example shown here as

a guide.

Make sure events are

programmed to send email
Bandwidth Limiting
SD can be set to limit the amount of
data that it can put out onto the
network.

This is easy to set up in the menus.

This can be important to reassure

end-users that SD will not cause any
problems caused by excessive data
slowing down the network
Alarm Responses
Each alarm response can have
two cameras associated.

The Primary camera can be sent

to a Preset Position

Primary and Secondary cameras

will be recorded at Event rate
during alarm.

Each alarm can be enabled

during the Day, Night, Weekend
or 24hours
Alarm Actions
Alarm actions are:-
Operate a Relay (1 to 4)
Report alarm to RVRC.
Email on alarm (see email page
for details).
Log event puts the alarm into
the Event Database.
Switch the camera to the
Main Monitor.
Sounder turns on the buzzer
Global Alarm Actions
Alarm events can automatically be
brought on to the Main Monitor of
the SD to alert operators.

What happens after the alarm can

also be selected:-
Stay on alarm camera or
Go back to previous camera.

Camera Fail detection with audible

warning is also included
BS8418 Compliant Alarm
Reporting
SD can report alarms and other
events to an RVRC or other
monitoring position.

BS8418 compliant alarm monitoring

is provided as standard. Program
the Primary and Secondary hosts.

Select which types of event are to

be reported:-
Alarm events
Camera Fail events
Tamper events
System Startup events
Activity Detection
SD has Activity Detection
Built in.
Activity can be enabled on
each camera during the Day,
Night, weekend or 24hours
Five levels of sensitivity can
be programmed to maximise
detections and minimise false
activations
An Activity Grid can be set up for
each camera so that ‘legitimate’
movement does not cause false
activation.
Using the Serial Ports
The SD has 4 Serial Ports which can be used to
enhance the CCTV system’s functionality.

Two different Twisted-Pair protocols can be used

e.g:-
Serial Port 3 can be used for sending Dennard
RS485
AND
Serial Port 4 can be used for sending Pelco P

Text-in-Image (e.g. POS data)

Debug - which is useful during System

Commissioning to rapidly track down and sort out
problems.,
Serial Telemetry Protocols
This is the list of Serial Telemetry Protocols which will be available on the SD
Range:-

Dennard Ernitec JVC Kalatel Mark Mercer

Pelco P Philips Samsung Sanyo Sensormatic

Ultrak Vantage VCL Vicon Vista

DM-Serial Panasonic WV-CS600 & WV-CS850

Using Text-in Image
Data can be recorded alongside
video information. This provides
a powerful solution, particularly
in retail surveillance systems to
make recording more intelligent.

Two streams of data can be

recorded and particular text e.g.
VOID or REFUND can be easily
searched for to rapidly track
down suspicious transactions.
Bi-directional Audio
Feature
The SD has bidirectional audio
capability which can be used to
provide remote help-point and
remote audio challenge capability
to the CCTV system

Both these audio streams can be

optionally recorded by the SD.

The Audio Output can be set

to be Local Playback, i.e.
that coming from the Audio
input of the SD itself or
Challenge, the audio coming
remotely

Added Value Options
in the
SD Range
SD is Analytics Capable
SD stands out as being Analytics Capable in the mid-range
market.

• A ‘Killer Application’.
• Provides options to add value
– People Counting
– Object Left / Object Removed
– Access Control ‘anti-tailgating’
• CW 4512 Architecture means it is competitive at entry level
• Hardware upgrade and licence required to enable Analytics
What does AnalyticsCapable
Mean?
• Analytics Capable products can be upgraded to run a range of D-Tec video
analytics solutions including; Object Left, Object Counting, Object Removed
and Intrusion Detection / Perimeter Protection.
• Our analytics technology seamlessly integrates with our NetVu Connected
DVR’s – including DV-IP Server, DV-IP RT, DV-IP Codec, CamVu2000
Megapixel IP Camera Analytics alerts operators to take action - we know
that after just 20 minutes monitoring of CCTV cameras - operators miss 95%
of the important activity.
• Available via a hardware and software license upgrade on
AnalyticsCapable Digital Video Recorders and other NetVu Connected
devices.
SD Analytics
SD Range 8, 12 & 16 Input Normal Rate units built on
Chipwrights Platform

• Allows hardware upgrade to the CW5521 platform from 4512

– Provides access to Analytics capability (excludes 4 channel units).
• Upgraded Analytics Options at per channel licence cost
• Basic analytic capabilities to be available on CW4512 units
(Plug & Play Advanced Activity Detection)
• Analytics runs on Normal Rate (5pps per channel) models
Managed Storage
Capability
The SD Range will support a single DM Managed Storage expansion unit
connected via an external SATA connection.
• Managed Storage Units provide a high-capacity, environmentally managed
storage in a single box.
– Only disks in use (record or playback) are spinning. With 5 disks in each storage
product, typically only one will be spinning. Most DVR’s spend 99% of their time
just recording. This means that the other 4 disks are not running and therefore
lifetime is extended
– Management of disk temperature – drive temperature (both low and high)
impacts on drive life. By maintaining a constant temperature, Hard drive life can
be extended. This is done by the use of individual drive ducts and fans to ensure
that airflow around drives is controlled.

• Managed Storage Unit Capacity

– 1.25, 2.5 and 3.75TB Models
• Availability Q3-4 2007.
