You may not see it. You may not hear it.
But relational bullying is happening all the time.

Bullying is characterized by:


Aggressive behavior or intentional harm doing.
Is carried out repeatedly over time.

Makes students worried or scared to come to school.

Bullying can occur in three different ways:


Physical bullying includes punching, shoving and other acts that hurt people physically. Verbal bullying spreading bad rumors about people and teasing people in a mean way. Emotional bullying keeping certain people out of a group and getting certain people to gang up on others.

Consequences of bullying
Children who are bullied feel very alone. Studies carried out show that bullying is a common behavior that happens in every school around the world. If bullying goes on for a long time, there can be negative effects.

Why do bullies bully?


Bullies quite often have their own problems that they are trying to cover up They are scared of not being popular with class members or being viewed as the 'tough guy' They think aggression is a good way of solving problems. It is NOT! Bullies usually lose their friends when people realize what they are doing.

How do students report a bully?


Make sure students are told to tell a teacher or adult immediately after the incident happens. Tell students to find a SAFE box which is located in the library and in front of the main office. Tell students to fill out a referral from remind them that it is anonymous. Tell the student to put the referral form in the SAFE box and that they will be contacted by the bullying committee.

A substantiated charge of bullying will result in prompt corrective action.


Such action may include educational activities: a parental conference; guidance counseling; change of seating; involuntary separation of the bully and victim; recommending outside-of-school therapy; detention; suspension and/or expulsion and/or any other such disciplinary action, consistent with the school handbook and any other applicable Board policies.
