Employee assistance programme [EAP]


Objective is to offer counseling and other help to employees having emotional, physical or other personal problems. Establish liaison relationship with social service counseling agency. Allowing employees to participate in the counseling process. Voluntary participation is supported. Providing allowance to a prescribed limit for such programs

Personal crisis & work place violence

Personal crisis - family matters, financial & legal problems. Violent actions addiction to alcohol & drugs, beat up colleagues, quarrel with supervisors or even destroy company property. Supervisors are suggested to cater for such problems by advice from expertise.

Employee safety

Objective is to prevent work related injuries and accidents. Employees face hazards such as,

Slipping or falling on floor [watery surface, soap, oil etc] Obstruction and collision [factory layout and space management] Equipment hazard [wires, switches, cards and edges of equipment can cause

Falling objects [file cabinets, lockers, shelves proper placement is needed] Fire hazards [availability of fire protection equipments and fire extinguishers]

With the rise of natural disasters in and around our world, the importance of

the safety of human capital, protection of the environment and conservation of existing assets of an industry is increasing, leading to growing relevance of skills in Safety Management.

Safety Management aims at minimizing the chances of risks, injuries and accidents by implementing risk management techniques and safety management operations. Improving the standard of health of the employees, monitoring the operating systems and bolstering the safety measures of an industry in general. 16

Conclusion
As the learning outcomes, one can understand that Health and safety are important aspects of an organizations smooth and effective functioning. Good health and safety performance ensures an accident-free industrial environment. Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) has improved considerably. Organizations have started attaching the same importance to achieve high OH&S performance as they do to other key aspects of their business activities
