Oil Exploitation
What is Oil Exploitation ? Suatu kegiatan pendayagunaan minyak bumi untuk kepentingan tertentu

Contamination
Suatu keadaan negatif yang diakibatkan oleh suatu kegiatan tertentu, seperti pencemaran

Negative Effects

WATER

AIR

LAND

Next

LAND
Forest Damage Soil pollution

Back

WATER
Drain the water system near the exploitation field Water pollution

Back

AIR

Produce large emission sof Sulphur Oxides (SO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOX), Produce large emissions of volatile organic compounds (Benzene etc) Triggering Green House Effect

Back

Negative Effects
Land penebangan vegetasi di lokasi eksploitasi Land Pencemaran tanah Water Air Pencemaran air (sungai, danau, laut) Terancamnya populasi hewan air/laut oleh bahan bahan kimia Perusakan terumbu karang

Water

Air

Polusi udara, tercemarnya udara oleh senyawa senyawa kimia yang berbahaya seperti; gas H2S, CO2, CO

Tar Sands Oil

Known as Tar Sands or Oil Sands, are a type of unconventional petroleum deposit. The sands contain clay, water, sands, and oil.

Oil sands are found in large amounts in many countries throughout the world, but are found in extremely large quantities in Canada and Venezuela.

Mechanism of Tar Sands Exploitation

Alberta Field

Albertas Case

Damage Land, Water, and Air by its pollution contamined ground water from their waste pond Increasing the cancer probability of civilian around the operation field Involve a variety of enviromental impact such as global warming and greenhouse gas emissions (40 million tons of CO2 emissions/year) Drain Athabasca river and damage the fish population in there Oil sands upgraders in the Fort McMurray area consistently rank among the top 10 most polluting facilities in Canada

Enviromental Solution

From Alberta :
Under Albertas strict reclamation standards, companies must remediate and reclaim Albertas land so it can be productive again. Reduced 45 percent of carbon dioxide emission by 1990 Limiting water use for oil extraction Recycle up to 90 percents of water that have been used The Wood Buffalo Environmental Association monitors the air in the oil sands region, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for air quality pollutants including carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, fine particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and hydrogen

Environmental Solution

From us :
Bioremediation using Bacillus sp Phytoremediation to eliminate or reduce the pollution Reclamating the region that has been damaged
