• Installation of cms125.3 + Red Hat Linux 7.2
• Script Detail

Contd…..
Stage 3: (Events generation)

• To understand different cms runs methodology

• To develop general plan between no. of events

and time of run

Contd….
Stage 4: (NFS Environment)

• To establish Physical Network Environment

• To establish NFS Server and Clients configuration

procedure

• To run the different cms events in NFS

environment

Contd…..
Stage 5: (PC Farm)

• To understand the installation procedure of Batch

Operating Submission System (BOSS) both on
client and Server

• Open PBS installation and configuration

Software Relations
PYTHIA Cards
kine_make_ntpl_pyt.com kine_make_ntpl_pyt.exe

CMSIM Cards
cmsbuild (by default looks on cms125.3.exe
FORTRAN, C and C++ files)

cms125b.run

cms125.3.out myevt _out.fz

(ASCII Format (Binary format)

The main program allocates the dynamic memory and control in the three phases of run
(i) Initialization (ii) event processing (iii) termination
Examples (runs at different TRIG no.)

For 1 event
• Time Size of cms125.3.out Size of myevt_out.fz
3min 12 sec 0.14MB 0.50MB

For 10 events
• Time Size of cms125.3.out Size of myevt_out.fz
23min 6sec 0.23MB 4.28MB

For 560 events

• Time Size of cms125.3.out Size of myevt_out.fz
11hrs 16min 5.04MB 263.27MB

For 900 events

• Time Size of cms125.3.out Size of myevt_out.fz
17hrs 14min 7.90MB 421.35MB
Study of CMS Technical Proposal

Physics Aspects

Detector geometry and its other features

New detector simulation package “GEANT-4”

Behavior of different kinds of detector under

very high radiation environment (neutron flux
reaches around 1013 /cm2
Monitoring System for Distributed
Computing in Data Grid Environment

Access to single farm values and all the

details of each node
Network parameters, connectivity values and
traffic information
Selected historical data
Flexible persisting mechanism using JDBC
Remote event notification for changes in
any system, etc.
Achievements

• Installation Guide of cms125.3

• Procedure of NFS Server and Clients configuration

• Installation Guide of BOSS

• PAW manual for new user

• Initial KINCERN web site for data uploads (in

JAVA/JSP)
Things to do

• To understand the Impala software

• Understanding of Book keeping
• Complete configuration of Open-PBS files with
BOSS
• Understanding of MySQL Database
• To establish SAMBA setup
• Establish complete PC Farm

Contd……..
• Understanding between different events
• Designed and development of Monitoring System for
Distributed Computing in Data Grid Environment
• Improvement in the KNPC-CERN web site
• Design and development of GUI for Pythia and
CMSIM pre processor(input) and post
processor(output) activities
Problem Areas

1- CERN Web account is required.

2- Required detailed information about BOSS Database and
its document (user manual).
3- How can we view the information from the database.?
4- What is Connectivity/Interface between Local Scheduler
and MySQL database (both on Server and Clients). (i.e.
Local Scheduler Registration, Job Type Registration, Job
Submission etc.)
5- Impala installation procedure or any sort of documents.
7- Please provide the detail about the different Benchmark
test cases which would be running on the existing setup.
8- Complete proposal regarding Data Grid Environment
