The computer keyboard is the peripheral used to enter data ( text and character ) into the computer manage application or enter command to be executed. It is the primary input device .The keys used in keyboard are called function keys. The different types of keyboard contain generally from 84 to 110 keys.

A computer mouse is the device that control the curser on the monitor

By moving the mouse on a surface the user might control an on-screen cursor or pointer. A mouse is a relative pointing device i.e. there are no defined limits to the mouse's movement and because its placement on a surface does not match a specific screen location. To select items or choose commands on the screen the user presses one of the mouse's buttons, producing a "mouse click."

 A scanner is a device that capture images from photographic prints, poster, magazine papers, and similar sources for computer editing and display. Scanners come in hand-held, feed in , and flatbed types and for scanning black and white and or colour. Scanners usually comes with specific software(eg: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP) to make them work with computer devices.

The Optical Mark Reader is a device the "reads" pencil marks on NCS compatible scan forms such as surveys or test answer forms. If that all seems overly technical to you, just think of it as the machine that checks multiple choice computer forms. In this document The Optical Mark Reader will be referred to as the scanner or OMR. The computer test forms designed for the OMR are known as NCS compatible scan forms. Tests and surveys completed on these forms are read in by the scanner, checked, and the results are saved to a file. This data file can be converted into an output file of several different formats, depending on which type of output you desire.

A barcode reader (or barcode scanner) is an electronic device for reading printed barcodes. Like a flatbed scanner, it consists of a light source, a lens and a light sensor translating optical impulses into electrical ones. It is capable of reading character on a paper written with magnetic ink.

A light pen is similar to mouse except that with a pen you can move the pointer and select objects on the display screen by directly pointing to the object with pen. Signals are taken by the CRT controller (chip).
