explanation for human behavior
In March 1996,he renamed this theory Choice Theory
Glasser he believes that the core problem most of us
experience is an inability to get along with others as well as
we want to.
RT- is the methodology for implementing the key concepts
of Choice Theory
C : KEY CONCEPTS
1.Human needs and purposeful behavior
We are motivated by innate forces and all of our behavior
is aimed at fulfilling basic needs
CT-said identity have 5 essential human needs;
survival ( self-preservation ) : maintaining life and good
health
Love and belonging : need for involvement with people
and need for loving others being loved
Power ( inner control ) : which includes achievement and
feeling worthwhile as well as winning
Freedom ( independences ) : autonomy, your own space
Fun ( enjoyment ) : pleasure
CONTu
CT- based on the premise that all our behavior is basically
an attempt to control the world around us for the purpose
of satisfying these 5 basic need. so, check out whether a
client is meeting his or her needs, the three basic questions
that are asked are; ( what do you want?;what are you doing
to get what you want?;it is working? ) CT explains that we
do not satisfy our needs directly
CT- provides an explanation for human motivation and
reality therapy is the delivery system
CT and RT are emphases on connection and
interpersonal relationships are well suited for variuos
kinds of group counseling
2. Existential / phenomenological orientation
CR- based on the existential assumption that is it possible
for people to learn to replace external control psychology
with internal control psychology
Glasser ( 2005 ) talks 7deadly habits that are based on
external control can destroy our relationship
