What is an amendment?
y A constitutional amendment is a

formal change to the text of the written constitution of nation or state. Amendments are laws governing the people y In the United states constitution so far we have 27 ratified and unratified amendments . y Before any amendment can take effect it has to be proposed to the state by two third vote by both houses of congress or by a convention called by two-thirds of the states.

The First Amendment

The first amendment includes four aspects including the freedom of religion, The freedom of speech, and the press, as well as the right to assemble and petition the government. The first amendment was enacted on December/15/1791 The first amendment is apart of the bill of rights The Text: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. This amendment affects me because I am entitled to voice my opinion and protest the government. But the right to free speech comes responsibility.

The second amendment


The right to bear arms

The second amendment apart of the bill of rights protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It was adopted Dec/15/1791 y :Text: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This amendment affects me because it allows me to own firearms for whatever reason

The fourth Amendment


guards against unreasonable searches and seizures

The fourth amendment also apart of the bill of rights enacted on December/15/1791.

:The text: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. This amendment affects me because it allow me to keep my privacy and protects me under unreasonable searches. Also the news is keeping me down and sad I want to

The fifth Amendment


Protects against abuse of government authority in a legal procedure.
:The text: y No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation

The fifth amendment protects against abuse of the government. This amendment affects me because it can protect me from incrimination.

The Eighth Amendment

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. How this affects me or my family? This amendment affects me if I am imprisoned because they cannot charge me excessive bail or give me cruel and unusual punishment.

Twenty-sixth Amendment
The right to vote over 18
y -The texty Section 1. The right of citizens of

the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age. y Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
y How does this amendment affect my

family? y This amendment affects everyone in my family, It allows us to vote since we are all over 18.

The sixteenth amendment


Government income

lay and collect taxes on income, from whatever source derived without appointment from the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration y How does this affect my family? y This amendment affects me and my family because money is taken out of our income and put towards federal spending
