TL 120 Terms & Definitions

Origin The first or starting city on a journey. This does not mean your hometown. You may drive to Vancouver and fly home. Your origin would be Vancouver.
Destination Often mistaken for point of turnaround. The final or ending point on a journey. On a trip Toronto/Vancouver/Toronto, Toronto is your origin and Toronto is also your destination.

Point of Turnaround The furthest point from the origin. Often called destination. On the last example, Toronto is both the origin and the destination while Vancouver is the point of turnaround.
It is widely accepted in the industry as the passengers destination. Toronto Vancouver

Itinerary Description of a passengers journey. Often in printed form.

Segment - A portion of an air itinerary from boarding to deplaning point (includes connections). There are both outbound (origin to POT) and inbound segments (POT to destination) Segment Toronto Vancouver

Leg One single flight portion of an itinerary from board point to deplaning point. Different from segment as it does NOT include connections. Segment

Stopover Voluntary interruption between origin and destination. Indicated by an O on an airline ticket. Stopovers are 4 hours or longer.

Nonstop Flight No stops enroute. A leg of a connection can be a nonstop flight. Segment Toronto Vancouver
