Introduction to Computer Viruses

What is a Computer Virus? A computer virus is an executable code that can replicate it self and invade computer systems. These virus programs should be triggered or somehow executed before they infect the computer systems. There are many types of viruses and some of them are very harmful and some are not.

History of Computer Viruses

John Von Neumann was the first person who gave the idea about self replicating programs in 1949.

In 1981 the first computer virus Elk Cloner was designed and infected Apple Dos operating system.
The first virus which was spread world wide (in 1992)was Michelangelo.

 The first viruses for Windows 95 and Linux operating system came to the field in 1996. Since then many kind of viruses came to the field and in the present computer viruses have became an major problem for computer users.
