Settled in Kabwe in 2005 and has been instrumental in many Radio Productions as producer or presenter . Muliyunda 30 years has worked with the media for over ten (10) now and his experience in Gender and GVC activities can be seen in most of his works through news coverage production of GBV programs during the 16 days of activism against GBV among others. Worked with Africare RAPIDS project that sought to change the mindset of youths on issues related to sex and HIV and AIDS. Created partnerships with Young Women Christian Association (YWCA), Victim Support Unit (VSU), Plan International, Government Department among other institutions that deal with Gender and GBV.

WHAT ROLE HAS THE LEADER PLAYED IN CHAMPIONING GENDER AND GBV ACTIVITIES?

LEADERSHIP

Gives prominence to Gender and GBV activities in all the Radio Maranatha productions. So often. Runs a GBV and Me breakfast show every Friday from 06:00 to 09:00 hours. The GBV and Me breakfast show has been effective as evidenced by the number of people that called in to make their contributions and make commitments to end violence against each other. Further by covering all Gender and GBV activities taking place in the district.

HOW HAS THE LEADER INFLUENCED THE LEVEL OF BUY IN AND INVOLVEMENT OF MANAGEMENT IN ISSUES OF GENDER & GBV?

LEADERSHIP

Through citing them as role models of Gender and Gender Based Violence whose lives must be emulated in most gender related productions. Featuring the station manager and some of the announcers to discus their best practices toward the fight against GBV and the promotion of Gender. Encouraging all Radio announcers to say something on Gender and GBV every time they are on Radio.

Muliyunda is a known leader within the institution as he is the only one with vast radio experience and continues to offer assistance and encouragement to every one to promote Gender and GBV activities in the shifts. News related to Gender and GBV has always been given prominence over any other story. And the communitys involvement through the live calls during the GBV and ME Friday Breakfast Show is clear indication that the youth leader was known.

LEADERSHIP Every day, being the head of the news department for over two years now, Muliyunda has adopted a concept of encouraging all the reporters in the newsroom to come up with at least one news idea on Gender and GBV daily. No week passed with no story on Gender and GBV activities with no focus or reference to any particular victim.

Through giving it prominence in all news stories and continuous running of a GBV and Me breakfast show. The involvement of Radio staff in some of the productions of Gender and GBV programs has made everyone research and prepare for any request for them to feature on any program related to Gender and GBV. And further the Radio Announcers kindness to buy in the idea of them to talk about Gender and GBV activities during the shifts daily has gone a long way in helping popularize all gender related activities.

People make reference to some of the productions even at high level meetings a situation that tells a story of how much impact it has made in the community.

Change of attitude amongst residents and there desire to call and make contributions during the GBV and Me Breakfast show every Friday is one impact the producer and presenter could claim as personal contribution.

His dedication to devote his only shift to Gender related issues and giving prominence to Gender and Development issues is clear indication of his dedication to the SADC protocol. The dedication of a shift to Gender and GBV activities is clear illustration of Muliyundas passion. The music played is well researched and attracted most of the listeners to stay on to hear the next song as the message is being passed on.
