Shaheedi
Comes from an Arabic word meaning a witness Muslims use it to mean a person who dies in a jihad or a holy war For Sikhs, we have a different meaning A Shaheed in Sikhi is one that is witness to the Gurus Nadir (Grace) It is one that is willing to give their life for the Truth (Satnam)

Sikh History is the History of Shaheedi

Shaheeds of All Ages

Their blood waters our Sikh garden

The Wonder of the Shaheed

It inspires us
It shows us that there are still Sikhs today that are willing to walk the path of Guru Nanak, with their head in their palm

It pushes us to be the best we can be

It reminds us that there are things that are more important than school, work, making money, etc.

The Theeja Ghallughara pt. 1

BACKGROUND
In the 1970s, Sikh youth were being killed by Indian Government officials and cheated by their politicians

Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale spoke out against this abuse and told the Sikh youth to not back down
He said, You are NOT a minority; you are a Nation.

The Theeja Ghallughara pt. 2

To silence him, the Indian Government sent tanks, helicopters, and artillery to kill him
In November, the Indian Government officials killed thousands of Sikhs throughout Delhi Even today, those murderers get promotions and are treated as heroes

The Theeja Ghallughara pt. 3

In Punjab, the army and police were given money to kill Sikh youth. Thousands disappeared and even today no one knows what happened to them
The official face of the tyrants were Beant Singh and KPS Gill

Balwant Singh Rajoana

His father was an army officer that left his position after 1984
His father was killed by militants and the Punjab Police gave Balwant Singh a job thinking he would hate Sikhs He became good friends with Bhai Dilawar Singh in college The two decided to do seva and end the tyranny of Beant Singh.

They decided together it would be Bhai Dilawar Singh to do the seva.

Bhai Rajoana never apologized for their action; he never asked for mercy He said he did this seva to show that the spirit of the Khalsa lives on today

Situation Today
The Indian Government was going to execute Rajoana on March 31. Rajoana remains in chardikala GOI have decided to postpone the execution to a later date The delay by GOI is to get the Sikhs to forget Rajoana reminds us that his sangharsh (struggle) of the Khalsa is against a tyrannical government, NOT against another community

The Wonder of the Shaheed

The Shaheed inspires us
The Shaheed reminds us that there are things in this world more important than only family, education, and money
