HAIR STYLES
A hairstyle, hairdo, or haircut refers to the styling of hair, usually on the human head. The fashioning of hair can be considered an aspect of personal grooming, fashion, and cosmetics, although practical, cultural, and popular considerations also influence some hairstyles
HISTORY
From the time of the Roman Empire until the Middle Ages, most women grew their hair as long as it would naturally grow. Initially they wore it loose, held in place with a band around the brow and covered with a snood, kerchief or veil. From the ninth century until the 16th century, women began to wear their hair in extremely ornate styles, often decorated with pearls, precious stones, ribbons and veils. During the First World War, women around the world started to shift to shorter hairstyles that were easier to manage. Men wore their hair short, and either parted on the side or in the middle, or combed straight back. At the beginning of the Second World War and for some time afterwards, men's haircuts grew shorter, mimicking the military crewcut. After the war, women started to wear their hair in softer, more natural styles. During this period many women washed and set their hair only once a week, and kept it in place by wearing curlers every night and reteasing and respraying it every morning.

The problems of plastic waste, especially thin film shopping bags, proliferate the developing world. Delhi, for example, generates almost 8000 tonnes of waste everyday nearly 50% of which is not collected. A useful but a potentially dangerous material, plastic has become omnipresent, strewing itself everywhere; in parks, choking drains, garbage dumps and even bird nests, propagating endlessly almost like a virus. Save money and prevent waste by getting creative and refashioning old clothes to make new ones Refashioning lets you keep up with the latest trends or create your own unique look.
Everyone is penny pinching right now, so letting things go to waste isn't an option. Trash Pickers in India Upcycle Plastic Bags into Fashion Accessories This is the story of Anita Ahuja, former author from New Delhi, India. Ahuja started Conserve, an upcycling NGO in her living room in 1998. Now she employs several Delhi rag pickers to collect the polyurethane bags, clean them, process them and make them into fashion accessories. She sells the items to Parisian boutiques and health food store chains in the U.S.
Textile Recycling Facts Don't trash the planet with your fashion misfits. Each American disposes about 35 pounds of old clothing and other textiles each year. Synthetic (man-made fibres) products will not decompose, and while woolen garments do decompose, they produce methane gas which causes global warming. In a lifetime, the average American will throw away 600 times his or her adult weight in garbage. This means that each adult will leave a legacy of as much as 100,000 pounds of trash for his or her children. Recycling reduces the need for landfills, allowing local lands to be used in more environmentally preferable ways. And, by substituting scrap materials for the use of trees, metal ores, minerals, oil, and other virgin materials, recycling reduces the pressure to expand forestry and mining production. Clothing and other textiles represent about four percent of the municipal solid waste stream. About 80% of what Americans throw away is recyclable, yet our recycling rate is only 28%. Always recycle or donate your old clothes instead of putting them out with the trash!
