1-To become empathetic to: the needs,motivations,feelings and behavior of the patients. 2-To understand groups behavior in relation to their work station. 3-Know and understand human interactions ,learning,motivation,emotion,behavior modifications, effects of hospitalization and other related knowledge 4-Care about the whole patient rather than be concerned with only physical symptoms .

5-Identify the extreme emotional reactions of young children as well as elderly patients . 6-Identify the defense mechanisms used by normal and mental ill patent and be able to recognize their feeling and needs . 7-Understand the psychological forces , which precipitate mental disorders and aggravate physical sickness.

The term psychology can be disected into two words: 'psyche' and 'logos'. Originally taken from the Greek word meaning 'breath of life' of the soul, loosely translated as 'mind'. Logos means 'knowledge'.

Psychology: Is the scientific study of the behavior and mental process.

Behavior: How the humans are interacting to each other and the world they are in.

Mental process: Cognition: knowledge and beliefs. Emotion: affect, moods, feeling . Motivation: drives, needs, desire, goals, purposes. So, psychologist try to understand how we related to those, knowing them.

A person tries to suicide:

Q: why he try to suicide. Answer: Depending on the the mind processes, the explanation is: 1) Cognitive explanation: he believed that he was worthless. 2) Emotional explanation: he felt depressed. 3) Motivation explanation: he no longer wants to live

*Social psychology: To understand the human behavior and their relation to a social environment. It is including: -Person interaction (cooperation, competation). -Social cognition. -Social influence. -Social influence (individuals, groups). Personality (Individuals differences).

*Biological psychology: The brain is the physical basis of the mind. To understand how body and brain create emotions, memories and sensory expression It is including: -neuroscience (Neuroanatomy, neurophysiology) -Molecular and cellular biology. -Genetics. -Evolutionary biology. - Endocrine and immunity system.

*Clinical psychology: It is concerned with the assessment and treatment of mental illness, abnormal behavior and psychiatric problems. *Cognitive psychology : Cognitive psychology is the branch of psychology that explores internal states including attention, thinking, and decisionmaking.
