    Relatively scarce among all the precious material. Only 5 million troy ounces ( 150 Mg) a year compared to 82 million ounces for Gold and 547 million ounces for Silver. Traded as a ETF(exchange traded fund). Traded in NYMEX under ticker symbol PPLT and in London Platinum and Palladium Market as LSE:PHPT. Largest reserves in Russia, South Africa and Canada.

    Traded as ETF in the stock exchanges.


    Platinum coins. Swiss banks offer platinum accounts where platinum can be purchased just like currency.

    Gold above the ground supply stocks are for 20 years, but platinum supply stocks are only for a year. Used in various industrial activities like auto. Supply-demand for platinum is more tighter compared. Global economy is on a recovery mode.

    Platinum does carry a edge (in relative performance) as the scenario of an impending recovery in global economy and risk appetite.
