Little learning happens when learners listen. Bigger learning happens when learners listen and see. Much bigger learning happens when learners listen, see & read. Much more learning happens when learners listen, see, read and do. A lot more learning happens when learners listen, see, read, do and experience.
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
~ John C. Maxwell ~
Leadership is the presentation by a person of some identifiable goal or vision or future state that people can desire; and the generation of a willingness within those people to follow the leader along a socially responsible and mutually beneficial course of action, toward that goal.
Parry, 1996
Leadership is mobilizing others toward a goal shared by the leader and followers. Garry Wills
LEADERSHIP
The old school style This method is effective in certain situations that need a stern hand but the disadvantages are far too many like low morale of the members or rebellion of followers etc
Leader makes decisions without reference to anyone else High degree of dependency on the leader Can create de-motivation and alienation of staff
The leader manages by the book Everything must be done according to the procedure or policy.
Bureaucratic leaders attempt to solve problems by adding layers of control, and their power comes from controlling the flow of information. Leaders impose strict and systematic discipline on the followers, and demand business-like conduct in the workplace Leaders are empowered via the office they hold: position power
It may be true that there is no such thing as the perfect leader leaders are human, after all. However, that is not to say that people who hold leadership positions should not continually seek to improve their leadership skills.
