Industrial

Revolution followed technological advancements and has radically changed the peoples lifestyle. The technical prowess acquired during the last century has posed a new challenge in the management of wastes. The hazardous content of materials like toxic metals, plastics, plastics additives, acids, etc., from the various industries pose an environmental and health threat. Hence the informal name for the disposed electronic products nearing the end of their useful life, that may be harmful is termed as E-WASTE.

1. Disposal of e-wastes is a particular problem faced in many regions across the globe. 2. This disposal causes several problems like acidification of soil, pollution of ground water, etc.

3. Due to this water is being transported from faraway towns to cater the demands of the population.
4. The most dangerous form of burning e-waste is the open-air burning of plastics causing the toxic fall-out that affects both local environment and global air currents.

1.To involve experts in designing communication tools.

2. To engage and stimulate a group of interested parties to assist the fund raising strategies.

3.To motivate selective partners.

4.To disseminate and make information easily accessible, in particular through Basel Convention Regional Centers (BCRCs). 5.To undertake periodic review of activities.

6.To collaborate with existing institutions and programmes to promote better use of cleaner technology.

1. The unattended electronic junks are normally mixed with the household wastes and disposed off at the landfills. 2. This causes a necessity for the industries to adopt and implement waste management measures like:

(i). Inventory management

(ii). Production process modification

(iii). Volume reduction

(iv). Recovery and reuse

1. While the world is marveling at the technological revolutions, India is facing an eminent danger from e-wastes. 2. Developed nations are disposing their e-wastes in India and other Asian countries. 3. These E-wastes are either disposed or recycled with no regard to environmental and worker health and safety. 4. In India the electronic waste management assumes greater significance. 5. E-Parisaraa Indias first scientific e-waste eco-friendly recycling unit.

FOR THE GOVERNMENT: a. To set up regulatory agencies. b. Provide adequate systems of law, controls and procedures for waste management. c. Encourage research on the development of hazardous waste management. Etc., FOR THE INDUSTRIES: Adopt waste minimization techniques. Educate the consumers about the threat posed by their products. c. Encourage and promote green procurement for corporate buyers FOR THE CITIZENS: Buy electronic products: That are energy sufficient. That have been certified by regulatory authorities. That are made with fewer toxic components.

1. Efforts should be made to design a product with fewer amounts of hazardous materials.

2. People must be made aware of the hazards of e-wastes.

3. E-waste management provides wider scopes of developing entrepreneurship skills.

4. According to a news report experts who mine e-wastes for precious metals including gold, copper, silver among others.
