WE are a group of food critics, specializing in Singapores fast food chains.

Our goal is to evaluate how healthy fast foods are in general, and if they offer healthy choices, and to urge the public at large to choose healthier choices when they step into a fast food restaurant. Quiz: (10m, 1blank 1mark) at end of presentation

Fast food is very popular among the teenagers due to them being both tasty and convenient. They know that fast foods have a negative impact on their health, but still choose to consume fast foods at least once a month.

Those in the table above are without margarine. Thus, they are said to be nutritious. Low fat content. Thus, it lowers the risk of high blood pressure, coronary heart diseases and other diseases. Sodium is present in the corn cup of Mac Donalds only. However, a moderate intake of sodium is acceptable, therefore it can be said to be in the healthy range. In conclusion, corn cup is considered a healthy fast food choice.

Salads consist of fruits and vegetables, and are rich in potassium and may help decrease blood pressure, hence they are generally healthy. Popeyes and Long John Silvers are unhealthier because they provide a sauce to complement the salad. Hence, they have a higher sodium content. Popeyes coleslaw has a fat content that is above the recommended daily intake. Therefore, it is moderately unhealthy. In conclusion, how healthy the coleslaw is depends on the restaurants toppings.

From the table shown above, we conclude that most fries have high sodium content due to the large amount of salt used. (High salt content) Fries usually have high fat contents which will clog up the arteries if not gotten rid of. This leads to obesity which in turn results in high blood pressure and related heart diseases. In conclusion, Fries are considered to be unhealthy because of the high health risks.

Singapore: according to Health Promotion Board statistics, the obesity levels are increasing. major cause of heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Worldwide, about 22 million children under age five are estimated to be obese or overweight. face an increase risk of developing insulin resistance; risk factor for type 2 diabetes

High sodium intake (French Fries) is associated with higher blood pressure. High salt intake also increases the amount of calcium excreted in the urine. Foods containing sugars and starches can promote tooth decay. These bacteria use sugars and starches to produce the acid that causes tooth decay.

Keep portion sizes small GO GREENorder a side salad with your sandwich instead of fries eat fruits and vegetables, in which they are rich in potassium and may help decrease blood pressure. (eg. Coleslaw) USE LESS DRESSINGAvoid using all the salad dressing packet, this can cut calories & fat! Choose foods with less amount of salts.

We have proven that fast food chains do offer healthy choices on their menus, though some are unhealthy (eg. Fries), and the choice lies in the hand of consumers, hence we have to choose wisely and our reasons are as follow: 1. In recent years, fast food restaurant are increasingly more inclined to the healthier side. Examples are the introduction of apple dippers, more vegetables in Mac Donalds and corn cup.

We hope that through this presentation, brochure & webpage, everyone would understand the importance of consuming healthy fast food, and that fast food chains offer both healthy and unhealthy foods, in which the choice is yours!!! START FROM TODAY: CHOOSE HEALTHY FAST FOODS!!!
