Task 2. Water as a symbol of creation (Christianity)

In the art lessons:

We drew pictures about water as a symbol of creation in Christianity.

In the religion lessons we:




discussed the significance of water in our life; got to know about symbolism of water in Old and New Testaments ( Bible); found fragments about water in Bible and wrote compositions about it; drew some of the symbols of water in Christianity on the book markers; an important role of this task is the integration of religion and technology lessons: the markers are bound with the bows which were made in the technology lessons.

Conclusions:

Water is the beginning of all creations and the source of life.

The Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water. (Genesis 1:2)

Water is a symbol of wisdom.

The words of a persons mouth are like deep waters, and the fountain of wisdom is like a flowing brook. (Proveb 18:4)

Water of the Deluge washes all rascality and all evil of the world. The Deluge, the raging sea, is a symbol of Almighty God.
Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean! Remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes, cease to do evil.. (Isaiah 1:16)

Crossing the Red Sea with God leading us is an escape from the earthly slavery.

In the New Testament Jesus Christ is Live Water. Live Water Christ satisfies the thirst of the soul in the desert of life.
But whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life. (John 4:14)

Water of the Baptise washes all our sins. The hallowed water is poured on the head and it links us with the death and the Resurrection of Christ. Rising from the water is the resurrection for a new life. We become Christians. Through Christening we become children of God.

I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. (Mark 1:8)

Water without the Holy Spirit matters nothing. Water of the Baptise is hallowed on Good Saturday. Then we all renew our Christening promises and take some hallowed water to our home. Through this water we reborn to life everlasting.

A ship sailing through the water is a symbol of the community of Catholics. We are all together, we are lucky and we have a great hope because the captain of our ship is Holy Father Benedict XVI. Christ blesses our travel through the stormy waters of life.
