Provide advice guidance and support on sport for disabled people

Main vision to help disabled people participate and learn more about sport they offer jobs in sport to anybody, they have a small page where you can access job opportunities and see if theres any opportunity to do work, whether its voluntary or paid . Disability England's main vision is to provide disabled people the same opportunities and choices as non-disabled people to participate, stay and excel in sport. They do this by dedicating their time to setting up sporting opportunities for disabled people and are a charity based on this, who have strong links with other organisations. http://www.efds.co.uk

Empower disabled people to take a more active role in all aspects of sport and physical activity
Example Disability Sport Events Explanation It is essential to increase participation opportunities at whatever level of choice for disabled people, in the build up to London 2012 and beyond. DSE's work means more disabled people can access sport from playground to podium, whether they have potential elite talent or just wish to be active. These opportunities help to increase health, well being in addition to confidence, which are essential for everyday life.

Influencing and supporting partners across the delivery system of sport to be more inclusive and to provide a greater range and quality of sporting opportunities for disabled people

Actively raising the profile of disabled sportswomen and sportsmen

EFDS raise the awareness of able and disabled equality and activity by putting events up on their news feed for people to read, they also give opportunities to disability sports by setting up events with national governing bodies of sport.

Providing a comprehensive competition calendar through our events programme to increase the number of disabled people participating at all levels of the player pathway, and support the identification and development of talented performers
Example Playground to Podium Explanation The ultimate aim of this initiative is to produce our next Paralympians and elite disabled athletes, by focusing on the identification, development and support of young disabled people. However, it is essential that all young disabled people have the opportunity to take part in high-quality sports provision.

Developing and rolling-out national programmes to improve access to sport and physical activity by disabled people, such as the Inclusion Fitness Initiative

In 2011, in addition to EFDS receiving national partner funding from Sport England, the charity along with several of its member organisations (NDSOs- National Disability Sports Organisations) were pleased to receive further National Lottery funding. The NDSOs are British Blind Sport, Cerebral Palsy Sport, Dwarf Sports Association, Mencap Sport, Special Olympics GB, UK Deaf Sport and Wheel power. This funding was to enable the NDSOs to support National Governing Bodies of sport (NGBs) to deliver more opportunities for disabled people.
There are three main programme areas which can add value to more disabled people participating in sport and physical activity. These programmes can belong to NGBs- such as Big Splash and FA Mars Just Play. Secondly to EFDS/NDSOs- Inclusive Fitness Initiative, Playground to Podium, Disability Sport Events, Festivals of Sport. Or thirdly- disabled peoples organisations- Me 2 you and Yoodo Sports Campaign (National Deaf Childrens Society and Leonard Cheshire respectively).

Providing a range of inclusive, high quality training and coaching opportunities to increase the number of disabled people involved in sport and physical activity
including disabled pupils, its for teachers and students and anybody involved in the delivery of primary or secondary schools. This six hour course focuses on the practical delivery of sessions and how to include disabled pupils. It offers an introduction to disability sports and activities that are inclusive for all members of the class, the impact this will have is major because its giving an overall understanding for both youth and adults, but particularly for pupils, who will receive more confidence and understanding of what it is either to play as a disabled pupil to spectate upon disabled pupils. http://www.efds.co.uk/courses
