My first love - the love they say you never forget - was for dancing. Upon graduating from high school, I promptly moved to New York City, more commonly referred to as the Big Apple, after accepting a company contract with the Martha Graham Contemporary Dance Company. I spent one blistery, freezing winter and one summer that was hotter than hell, in NYC before returning back to my hometown, Northern Virginia. Upon returning back to NOVA, I took a job teaching ballet and modern to dancers young and old at one of the best ballet companies on the East Coast. I started out as a part-time faculty member that was constantly amazed at the quality training and amazing productions this “two-room school house” was producing—but to my complete and utter surprise, the organization was no where near recognized by the public. To me this meant only one thing, adver-fucking-tise! And thus began my relationship with graphic design. I was quickly made responsible for all of the organizations marketing, advertisements, photo shoots, public relations, and fundraising events - which than sparked the idea of going to school for design. Three years later, I was accepted in to George Mason University’s B.F.A program for graphic design. While I have been studying graphic design at George Mason University, I have continued to act as the “on-call creative mind” for the ballet company, and was granted permission to begin an internationally recognized contemporary dance company within the ballet company. In addition, I have recently accepted a position as a media buyer at White+Partners, an award-winning advertising firm in Herndon, Virginia. My heart is filled with gratitude for those that have inspired, and even dragged, me to where I am today.ver menos
