English The Genebres is a Portuguese traditional instrument that consists of a series of small sticks round and massive organized

by size in descending order. At the large end, the instrument features a leather strap, adjustable, normally used to support the instrument neck. The instrument is played by holding the other end with your hand and scraping or striking the sticks with a small anvil.

Na extremidade mais larga, o instrumento apresenta uma correia de couro, ajustvel, normalmente utilizada para apoiar o instrumento no pescoo. O instrumento tocado segurando a outra extremidade com a mo e raspando ou percutindo os paus com um pequeno batente. As Genebres MISSOM so construdas em diversas madeiras (hickory, jacarand baiano, entre outras), tendo como acabamento ecofriendly com cera natural de abelha. Entre ns, a genebres v-se apenas na Lous (Castelo Branco), num caso nico, como atributo peculiar da Dana dos Homens, que leva tambm, por vezes, o nome do instrumento, e que tem lugar em meados de Maio, em honra da Senhora dos Altos Cus. Ela tem a carcter rigorosamente cerimonial, sendo usada apenas nessa ocasio; pertence comisso de festas e passa anualmente dos festeiros velhos para os novos por Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira em Instrumentos Musicais Populares Portugueses. Dimenses: 16 paus redondos macios, diferentes tamanhos.
