This paper aims to present the Arendt’s concept of Education, that is,
education, for Hannah Arendt, is a search for understanding the world and
does not only regards the transmission of knowledge and doctrine teaching,
but the possibility for men to demonstrate their love to the world and to
children. This means that all men need education since early ages in order
to learn from educators to respect and preserve the world as their own
home, where people live together in plurality and distinguish themselves in
their uniqueness. Thus, the concept of birth is essential in Arendt’s thought,
since it shows that from birth, men already represent a novelty for the
world. Therefore, the birth of each child represents a new beginning in the
world and with it a new history begins.
“A criança nova que habita onde vivo dá-me uma mão a mim e a
outra a tudo que existe e assim vamos os três pelo caminho que
houver, saltando e cantando e rindo e gozando o nosso segredo
comum que é o de saber por toda a parte que não há mistério no
mundo e que tudo vale a pena”.
