Notes of Guidance 2023/2024
These notes are intended to clarify the fees and methods of payment for the school year. Please
contact the Accounts Office at accounts@stjulians.com for further questions. These notes should be
read in conjunction with the School Fee Payment Policy, available on the Parent Portal.
1. Tuition fees
In 2023-24 tuition fees will be invoiced three times a year, in June 2023, October 2023 and January
2024, with payment required within thirty days of the invoice date. This payment can be made
directly to the Accounts Office, by bank transfer, direct debit or entidade e referência.
Parents may request an annual invoice, which is settled in June 2023, upon which a discount of 1%
will be granted. On request, parents may also choose to pay monthly, incurring ten monthly
installments from July to April. Please note that this option is only available if payment is made by
direct debit. Please contact the Accounts Office at accounts@stjulians.com in order to obtain a direct
debit payment authorisation form.
Payments not received within the terms of the invoice will be subject to an administrative charge of
7% of the outstanding payments. Interest on late payments is applicable according to Portuguese
Law.
Invoices are sent by email to the address held on record. Parents are asked to inform the school of
any changes or corrections to their invoice or contact details.
Should parents decide not to re-enrol their child at St Julian’s School or if the child leaves the school
during the academic year, a term’s notice must be given in writing by completing the “Leaving
Form” available on the Parent Portal, otherwise parents will be charged for a term’s fees. If students
are moving to another international school in the Greater Lisbon area, parents must also request a
Letter of Financial Clearance from the Accounts Office.
Parents are granted a discount of 15% of the tuition fees for the third child attending the school and
25% of the tuition fees for all additional children attending (simultaneously). The eldest of the
attending children is considered the first enrollment from the family and all children must be
attending school at the same time.
Fees cover the majority of the school trips arranged as part of the curriculum, but not international
travel or optional activities that are charged separately.
2. Additional Resources
St. Julian’s may charge additional fees to cover for additional resources such as English as an
Additional Language (EAL) or specific Special Educational Needs (SEN).
3. School Lunches
The most cost effective way for parents to request school lunches is through our annual or termly
lunch pass. We also offer a flexible approach to dining based on a top-up system. Details of the lunch
service will be provided separately.
Personal accident insurance is included in tuition fees. The coverage runs from September to June.
5. Qualification Charges
External Examinations take place in Year 11 GCSE, and Year 13 (IBDP). These costs relate to fees from
the Examination Board and cover all expenses related to the award of the GCSE and IBDP
qualifications, including exam Board administration, Coursework and Internal Assessments. These
are billed in the 2nd term invoice in October.
Re-marking of exams will be charged separately and must be paid in advance, at the time of request.
Should the re-marking benefit the student, this cost will be refunded.
6. Pre-IB Year
The preparation year is open to students who complete the 9º Ano or from equivalent study
programmes and wish to enroll in the IB Programme. The fee for this year is the same as for Year 11.
The Year 12 fees will be invoiced three times a year, as mentioned above (point 1. Tuition fees) and the
Year 13 fees will be invoiced in June 2023 and October 2023.
8. School activities
In case the on-site school activities are suspended by the decision of the Portuguese State or by the
School’s decision, as a result of sanitary, safety or security reasons, the payment of the School tuition
fees is still due, insofar as school activities are maintained through remote learning methods.
Notas Informativas 2023/2023
A criança
As despesas relativas a exames
aquando do pedido. Caso a nota favoreça o aluno, o valor liquidado será reembolsado.
6. Ano 11 (Pre-IB)
