In this work we intend to present the play Tanikô, which was translated by us into
Portuguese – it is the first translation of this play into this idiom –, comparing it to
the didactic opera Der Jasager. We make a relation between the noh theatre and
the epic theatre and we try to clarify Brecht’s reasons for choosing this noh play,
as well as the differences between the two plays, because in Tanikô we can
observe a transcendental religious context that doesn’t exist in Der Jasager / Der
Neinsager.
