DESEMULSIFICAÇÃO E ESTERIFICAÇÃO/TRANSESTERIFICAÇÃO
DE RESÍDUOS GORDUROSOS DE CAIXA DE GORDURA (RGCG)
ABSTRACT: This work consisted in developing a process for producing biodiesel from greasy residue
Box Fat (RGCG) obtained companies in the food sector of the city of Blumenau, through the process
of demulsification saline and followed by a homogeneous catalytic route into two steps, with the acid
esterification followed by transesterification basic. The greasy residues collected were characterized
physically and chemically, results as showing a high rate of free fatty acids. The demulsification
process of saline occurred through the use of electrolyte Sodium chloride (NaCl) and the application of
temperature control. Cases esterification/transesterification employed as solvent and methanol
as catalysts for sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) respectively. The results of this
study showed that the use of excess solvent together as the transesterification process are essential
to obtain a biodiesel with low acidity.
