As obras de Liduino Pitombeira (Russas-Cear, 1962) tm sido executadas pelo Quinteto de Sopros da Filarmnica de
Berlim, Syntagma, Orquestra de Cmara Eleazar de Carvalho, Louisiana Sinfonietta, Red Stick Saxophone Quartet, New
York University New Music Trio, Orquestra Filarmnica de Poznan (Polnia), Orquestra Sinfnica do Recife e Orquestra
Sinfnica do Estado de So Paulo. Recebeu importantes premiaes em concursos de composio no Brasil, destancando-
se o 1o Prmio no I Concurso Nacional Camargo Guarnieri, por sua obra Suite Guarnieri, para orquestra de cordas, e o
1o Prmio no Concurso Sinfonia dos 500 Anos, por sua dissertao de mestrado, Uma Lenda Indgena Brasileira,
para orquestra sinfnica. Em maro de 2004 recebeu, nos Estados Unidos, o prmio 2003 MTNA-Shepherd
Distinguished Composer of the Year (Compositor do Ano) por seu trio com piano Brazilian Landscapes No.1.
Obteve em 2005 o 1o Prmio no Sigma Alpha Iotas Inter-American Music Awards competition com a obra Brazilian
Landscapes No.2 para quinteto de metais, e em 2006 o 1o Prmio no Kean University competition com a obra
Brazilian Landscapes No.6 para quinteto de cordas. Pitombeira doutor (Ph.D) em composio e teoria pela
Universidade Estadual de Louisiana (EUA) onde estudou com Dinos Constantinides. Suas obras so publicadas pela
Peters, Bella Musica, Filarmonika LLC, Cantus Quercus, Conners, Alry, RioArte e Irmos Vitale. Pitombeira vem tendo
diversas obras gravadas regularmente desde 1997 pelos selos Magni, Summit, Centaur, Antes, Filarmonika e Bis, bem
como por selos independentes. Atualmente, Pitombeira professor adjunto de composio e teoria da Universidade
Federal da Paraba.

The music of Liduino Pitombeira (Brazil, 1962) has been performed by The Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet,
Louisiana Sinfonietta, Red Stick Saxophone Quartet, New York University New Music Trio, Orquestra Sinfnica
do Recife (Brazil), Syntagma, Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra (Poland), Orchestra de Cmara Eleazar de Carvalho
(Brazil) and Orquestra Sinfonica do Estado de So Paulo (Brazil). He has received many composition awards in
Brazil and the USA, including the first prize in the 1998 Camargo Guarnieri Composition Competition and the first
prize in the "Sinfonia dos 500 Anos" Composition Contest. He also received the 2003 MTNA-Shepherd
Distinguished Composer of the Year Award for his piece "Brazilian Landscapes No.1". Two more pieces of his
series Brazilian Landscapes (No.2 and No.6) were awarded first prizes in the USA. Dr. Pitombeira received his PhD
in composition from the Louisiana State University (USA), where he studied with Dinos Constantinides. He is a
member of ASCAP, Society of Composer Inc., Associao de Pesquisa e Ps-Graduao em Msica, College Music
Society, and Sociedade Brasileira de Msica Contempornea. His pieces are published by Edition Peters, Bella
Musica, Filarmonika LLC, Cantus Quercus, Conners, Alry, RioArte, and Irmos Vitale. Recordings of his works
were made by Magni, Summit, Centaur, Antes, Filarmonika and Bis labels. Presently, he teaches composition and
theory at Universidade Federal da Paraiba, in Brazil.
