Veneza
Veneza, a capital da região de Vêneto, no norte da Itália, é formada por mais de 100
pequenas ilhas em uma lagoa no Mar Adriático. A cidade não tem estradas, apenas
canais (como a via Grand Canal), repletos de palácios góticos e renascentistas. Na praça
central, Piazza San Marco, ficam a Basílica de São Marcos, coberta de mosaicos
bizantinos, e o campanário, com vista para os telhados vermelhos da cidade.
O Palácio Ducal, com seu estilo gótico e o mármore branco e rosa, fica no lado leste da
praça. Antes da quaresma cristã, essa área se torna o epicentro do Carnaval de Veneza,
que reúne foliões com máscaras e fantasias bem enfeitadas.

Venice
Venice, the capital of the Veneto region in northern Italy, consists of more than 100
small islands in a lagoon on the Adriatic Sea. The city has no roads, only canals (such as
via Grand Canal), filled with Gothic and Renaissance palaces. In the central square,
Piazza San Marco, is the Basilica of Saint Mark, covered with Byzantine mosaics, and
the steeple, overlooking the red roofs of the city.
The Ducal Palace, with its Gothic style and white and pink marble, is on the east side of
the square. Before Christian Lent, this area becomes the epicenter of the Venetian
Carnival, which brings together revelers with well-adorned masks and fantasies.
