Apresentação
Este curso tem por objetivo central apresentar e discutir diferentes formas pelas quais
antropólogos e antropólogas anglófonos/as do começo do século XXI têm trabalhado a questão
mais fundamental da antropologia contemporânea: a relação entre significado e poder – ou seja,
entre aspectos simbólicos ou culturais da vida social, por um lado, e desigualdades e conflitos
políticos e econômicos, por outro. Assim, o curso discute importantes autores e autoras
contemporâneos/as e examina tópicos como: soberania, racialidade, capitalismo, globalização,
etnicidade, colonialismo, cidadania, religiosidade e nacionalismo.

A nota final será baseada na avaliação das atividades, seguindo a seguinte proporção:
Participação em sala de aula – 20%
Apresentação de seminário – 30%
Trabalho final – 50%
