Exatamente! A missão que a
igreja recebeu pertencia a Jesus.
Jesus established the church because sent the Holy Spirit to a group that had formed
by faith around him and gave him his mission. Exactly! The mission that the Church
received belonged to Jesus. In John 20:21 and 17:18, Jesus says that he sent his
disciples with the mission he had received from the Father. So the mission is of the
essence of the church with communion (koinonia) and the Holy Spirit. It is the
mission, however, that justifies the existence of the church. Without a mission church
is a church without Christ. The mission of the Father was incarnated in the Son and
through the Holy Spirit is fulfilled in the church. The church is called the Body of
Christ as he continues his redemptive work and is the means to carry out the mission
and also the expression of its outcome. All who make up the church are, at all times,
be involved with the mission. Mission is not a specialized ministry is of the essence of
the church and is natural part of being a Christian. This is because the church is
missionary agency of the kingdom of God, or it is no church; and because there is no
other church but the church sent into the world, and there is no other mission but to
the Church of Christ.
