CONTEXTUALIZAO CONTEXTUALIZATION
Entre 1908 e 1970, Mllerpier abrigou a empresa porturia H. Mller & Co Stevedoring. Aps a suspenso de suas atividades, a rea serviu como local para feiras, parque de diverses, entre outros usos. Entretanto, desde o final dos anos setenta, j havia planos para torn-la uma rea residencial. Em 1979, o arquiteto Ingls James Stirling props um plano geral para a rea, no executado. Na dcada de 90 o planejamento de Mullerpier foi retomado. O plano eleito foi o dos arquitetos Kees Christiaanse e Ruurd Gietema, com 575 casas, centros de vida assistida, um berrio, um restaurante e lojas.
Between 1908 and 1970, the company H. Mller &Stevedoring Co was installed in mullepier. After the suspension of its activities, the area served for local trade fairs, antique markets and amusement park, among other uses. However, since the late seventies, there were plans to make it a residential area. In 1979 the English architect James Stirling proposed a masterplan for the area, that was not executed. In the 90 planning Mullerpier was resumed. The chosen plan was the one by architects Kees Christiaanse and Ruurd Gietema, with 575 apartments, assisted-living centers, a nursery, a restaurant and stores.

Os blocos geralmente seguem os alinhamentos do terreno, trs quadras so girados e focada em elementos-chave do ambiente urbano.
The blocks generally follow the alignments of the ground, three of the blocks are turned and focused on key elements of the urban environment.

A rea pblica composta por uma superfcie contnua em torno dos espaos verdes, parques infantis e campos desportivos. Vista de perto, a rea d a impresso de ser um labirinto urbano composto por espaos ntimos em contraste com a ampla viso da gua.
The public area consists on a continuous surface around green spaces, playground and sports fields. A closer view seems to be an urban maze formed by intimate spaces in contrast to the broad vision of the water.

O movimento de carros se d ao longo da borda, mas um amplo espao tambm reservado para os caminhantes.
The car traffic occurs along the edges, but a wide space is also reserved for walkers.

Os blocos foram projetados para permitir a mxima atividade no piso trreo, A profundidade dos edificios cria tipologias especficas, algumas vezes com espaos semi-publicos interiores. O espao pblico constitudo por uma superfcie contnua de paralelepipedos, diferenciado apenas na rea do cais reas ajardinadas, campos de jogos e esportes esto dispostos sobre a superfcie.

FREE SPACES
The blocks were designed to allow maximum activity on the ground floor The depth of the buildings creates specific typology, often with semi-public indoor spaces. The public space is constituted by a continuous layer of cobbles, which differs only in the quay area. Landscaped areas, playgrounds and sports are arranged on the surface.

Os edificios foram estrategicamente posicionados de forma a permitir que todos tenham livre viso das bordas dgua e sejam protegidos do vento.

WATER

The buildings were strategically positioned to allow a free view of water and to be protected from the wind.

A relao dos habitantes com a gua se d de forma indireta, no sentido em que h a preocupao de permitir a contemplao da linha dgua, e a utilizao desta para o transporte (taxi aqutico), e tambm de forma direta, para atividades de lazer.

The relationship between the inhabitants and water is an indirect one, in the sense that there is a concern to allow the contemplation of the waterline, and the use as transportation (water taxi), and also a direct one, for leizure activities.

CONTEXTUALIZAO CONTEXTUALIZATION
Lloydpier foi no sculo passado, o agitado ncleo das atividades martimas. As funes do antigo porto ao longo dos anos deram lugar a uma nova interpretao dinmica do viver, trabalhar e desfrutar. As exdocas abrigam hoje inmeras empresas, cujo ponto focal a antiga usina eltrica, Schiecentrale. Mais recentemente, foi desenvolvido um plano para a instalao de habitaes na rea.
Lloydpier was in the past century, the bustling hub of maritime activities. The functions of the harbor over the years have given rise to a new interpretation of the dynamic life, work and leizure. The former docks now house several companies, whose focal point is the former power station, Schiecentrale. Recently, a plan was developed for the installation of dwellings in the area.

MOBILIDADEMOBILITY
As vias de maior fluxo foram dispostas preferencialmente nas bordas e no centro da ilha, contemplando tambm espao para a circulao de pedestres.
The increaesd flow routes are arranged prefencially at the center and edges of the island, including also space for pedestrian circulation.

As vias secundrias passam entre os prdios de maneira perpendicular, permitindo uma conexo direta entre as bordas (transversalidade).
The secondary roadsa re perpendicularly among the buildings, allowing a direct connection between the edges (transversality).

A intermodalidade bastante intensa em Lloydpier. Pode-se ter acesso ilha travs de carro, trem, bicicleta, txi aqutico, alm dos passeios.
Intermodality is very intense in Lloydpier. One can access the island through many ways, such as: car, train, bike, water taxi, besides on foot.

O plano de Lloydpier prev a construo de 700 habitaes, com tipologias variadas. Ele combina uma nova rea residencial, de arquitetura inspirada na tradio construtiva, com edifcios renovados do antigo porto. A localizao central da ilha favorece o desenvolvimento de atividades diversas: teatro, restaurantes, cafs, hotis, campos de esportes, escola primria, e muitas outras comodidades a curta distncia.
CONSTRUCTED SPACES
Lloydpiers masterplan envisages the construction of 700 dwellings, with varied tipology It combines a new residential area of architecture inspired by the Constructivist tradition, with refurbished buildings of the old port. The island's central location favors the development of various activities, such as, theater,restaurants, cafes, hotels, sports fields, school, and many other activities.

Diferentemente do projeto do Mullerpier, os espaos pblicos em Lloydpier esto dispostos preferencialmente no centro da ilha, margeada por edificaes. Porm apresentam aberturas que permitem o livre acesso s bordas dagua.

FREE SPACES Unlike Mullerpiers design, public spaces are designed in Lloydpier preferably in the center of the island, bordered by buildings. They also have openings to allow free access to the waterfronts. There is also considerable walking path along the pier.

GUA WATER
Em Lloydpier h uma estao permanente de txi aqutico, o que sugere que haja a incorporao do rio vivncia da comunidade.

A distribuio espacial dos espacial dos edificios e o diferente gabarito garante que todos tenham uma vista privilegiada para todos os lados.

In Lloydpier there is a permanent water taxi station, which suggests the incorporation of the river into the community experience. The spatial distribution of buildings and their different template ensures that everyone has a privileged view of all sides.
