Objectivo e funcionamento da apresentao: Ajud-lo a configurar um router atravs da simulao de comandos;

Note the # symbol indicates you are in PRIVILEGED mode. To ensure that the router starts from a blank configuration file, erase the NVRAM configuration file by typing: erase start and then restart the router.

Configuration mode has many subsections. Most often you will configure the router from a PC running a Terminal Emulation program like Hyperterm or Teraterm. This command lets you enter global configuration mode.

Note: the prompt has included the word config to indicate you are in global configuration mode. The routers name is called its host name. This command will therefore change the default router host name from router to Lab-A. Spaces are not accepted in the hostname and it is case sensitive.

Note that passwords ARE case sensitive. When using the teaching topology it is recomended that you use cisco for all passwords except for PRIVILEGED mode. This password should be class. Be wary of starting a password with a space.

Enter the line configuration mode to set parameters that effect line access to the router eg. console password; virtual terminal (telnet) passwords; auxiliary passwords etc.

There is only 1 console port on the back of the router and it is usually labelled 0.

WARNING: If you do not set a password after choosing login you will effectively lock people out of router access via the console 0 interface. Be wary of starting a password with a space.

This command lets you configure the 5 virtual telnet session lines into the router. These enable a user to access the router remotely via the network itself using the Layer 7 telnet application.

Note: each vty line can be allocated a separate password by using eg.

As we do not have a WAN cloud to connect to we need to simulate the timing process of a DCE. This is done by setting a clock rate for only ONE end of the serial link. In Australia this would be 64000 bits per second. However you will have to use 56000 bps in the eSIM as this is the American standard.
