Este estudo demonstra que temos uma melhoria no transporte de glicose para o interior da
clula. Isso ocorre pois h um aumento da
expresso do GLUT-1, um transportador de
glicose em nvel epidrmico. Dessa maneira, a
glicose deixa o meio extracelular, reduzindo os
nveis sistmicos de glicose e, consequentemente, a formao de AGEs e glicao.

Os dmeros de pirimidina podem ser detectados no DNA de queratincitos irradiados com UV. Estes so resultados da alterao do material gentico da clula, indicando dano ao DNA. Na figura anterior, podemos observar
como o tratamento com Glycoxil reduz as alteraes celulares aps a irradiao UVB.
Concluso: Monitoramento imuno-histoqumico das alteraes do DNA (dmeros de pirimidina) em epiderme
humana reconstituda (EHR) irradiada pela UVB (300mJ/cm2) demonstra que o uso de Glycoxil (Carcinina) protege o DNA da exposio radiao. Portanto, Glycoxil apresenta ao genoprotetora.

O principal interesse pela carcinina no que se refere fotoproteo oriundo da habilidade deste composto em inibir a toxicidade dos hidroperxidos lipdicos (LOOH) e
seus produtos txicos formados em nvel das membranas celulares aps a exposio
radiao UV.
