ABSTRACT: In the study in the slaughterhouse-frigorific exporter located in Minas Gerais Triangle region supervised by
the Federal Inspection Service (SIF-504) were investigated the frequency and causes of condemnation of livers and
kidneys in the inspection line. The inspection followed the precepts of the Rules of Industrial and Sanitary Inspection of
Animal Products - RIISPOA/1952. Of the 1.505.022 cattle slaughtered in the five years analyzed were convicted 96.955
livers and 220.076 kidneys. The prevalence of convictions in the livers in relation to them was: 27,55% cirrhosis, 37,27%
abscess, 6,91% perihepatitis, 9,22% teleangiectasia, 2,42% hydatidosis, 2,24% steatosis, 14,36% contamination and of the
total cattle slaughtered, the condemnations of livers were: 1,77% cirrhosis, 2,40% abscess, 0,44% perihepatitis, 0,59%
teleangiectasia, 0,15% hydatidosis, 0,14% steatosis, 0,93% contamination. The prevalence of convictions of the kidneys in
relation to them was: 20,94% congestion, 20,34% ischemia, 21,88% nephritis, 36,84% uronefrose and of the total cattle
slaughtered, the convictions of kidneys were: 1,53% congestion, 1,49% ischemia, 1,60% nephritis, 2,69% uronefrose. We
observed the need for greater control of health of the herd, and using correct dosages of medicines and a balanced diet in
confinement, preventing overload on the kidneys and liver of cattle.
