ABSTRACT
This work aims to adapt the Reliability-Centered Maintenance methodology, to health care technologies. The
Reliability-Centered Maintenance, thoroughly used and consecrated (joined by ten years of use) in the industrial
sectors, added gains quite significant, such as: reduction of the work load maintenance, increase of the availability
and of the equipment reliability. Reliability-centered Maintenance is a systemized and structured methodology
that promotes improvements in the maintenance administration, optimization of available resources, increase
safety and reliability of equipments, besides being a useful tool for quality certification; lacking aspects in most of
the hospitals of countries in development. It’s looked for, in that way, to make possible its use in the health area,
that it can be classified as one of the most complex environment, due its demands and technological
characteristics, highly diversified and complex. Where a significant percentage of health care technologies out of
use, resulting in a direct decrement in the number of attendances, surgeries, exams, beds, as well as, of the health
care facilities profit.
