ABSTRACT
The present article intends to examine the contribution of the use of elements of the Intelligence
Organ (IO) of the Eastern Military Command in operational recognition activity, in the regions
dominated by Organized Crime, in the State of Rio de Janeiro. As a parameter for the study, the
actions performed by the 2nd Company Intlg were used in the operations that occurred during the
Federal Intervention and the knowledge of intelligence produced before and during this period. As
this is a new issue with regard to the employment of intelligence operators, there is still no
established doctrine dealing with the subject. Regarding the methodology, the basic research, using
a descriptive and qualitative approach. The research began with study in manuals, national and
foreign, seeking the search for subsidies for the elaboration of the work. The instruments used were
the exploratory interview to the military that participated in the actions, and the direct observation that
allowed the analysis of the equipment and material employed in the actions.
