RESUMO
Brazil owns one of the largest biodiversity on the planet and has been facing a major
environmental problem, the trafficking of wild animals, with the main pillars being high
profitability and fragile surveillance. The present study aims at discussing the theme
of the trafficking of wild animals and their consequences for biodiversity with
elementary school students from public schools in the city of Santo Antonio do Tauá,
Pará. The research was conducted with groups from the 6 th to the 9th year of the
Elementary school, totaling 259 students. The data were collected through the
application of a closed questionnaire and the intervention occurred through socio-
educational talks and distribution of folders. The results indicated that the students of
the two schools have little knowledge about the trafficking of wild animals. Therefore,
there is a need to include educational activities in the school environment and the
development of projects aimed at the preservation of Brazilian fauna within the
communities is highlighted. It is of fundamental importance the environmental
education within the schools, in order to stimulate the perception and the critical
sense of the young people about the importance of the biodiversity.

No
acerca do tema abordado.
