Máximas Morais, Reflexões, Sentenças Ou Aforismos Do Filósofo Francês François de La Rochefoucauld, Paulo Fernandes Braga
Abstract: This text presents a review of the book: "Reflections or sentences and
moral maxims" by the French philosopher François de La Rochefoucauld. His
moral maxims discuss a variety of topics related to human nature, emotions,
social relationships and the pursuit of happiness. They address the influence of
self-love on passions and tastes, the decay of morality and manners due to the
desire for convenience, the importance of moderation in mockery, and the healing
power of physical activity. They also explore the relationship between praise and
criticism, revenge through goodness, the difficulty of expressing opinions out of
fear, the lack of humility even in the pursuit of devotion, the illusion of happiness
and the tendency to torment oneself to appear happy. The texts also discuss the
advantage of not compromising for the wise, the connection between happiness
and possession, the pursuit of praise and the illusion of being loved. In addition,
they address the preference for seeing those to whom one does good, the
difficulty in hiding feelings and the importance of studying people. Overall, the
texts reveal reflections on the contradictions and complexities of human nature
and interpersonal relationships.

Apresentação do autor
pensador francês do século XVII.
No entanto,
mosquete, quase perdendo a visão.
