mercados, que ao menos uma das etapas da seleo seja feita em ingls. O objetivo desta apostila
preparar o aluno para participar destes processos, abordando as questes mais frequentes nas

CAPTULO I - Curriculum / Currculo

Tudo comea com um timo currculo. Um currculo bem feito vai aumentar suas chances de ser
chamado para uma entrevista. No entanto, um currculo que excelente na viso de um, pode ser
fraco na viso de outro.
O que vamos listar aqui so algumas regras mais generalistas, aceitas para a maioria dos
recrutadores e empresas.
- Seja conciso: ao invs de escrever longos
pargrafos, prefira organizar por tpicos. Reflita
se as informaes que voc est colocando so
relevantes posio que voc est se
candidatando.

- Be concise: prefer bullet points than long

paragraphs. Think if the information you are
adding is really relevant to the position you are
applying

- NUNCA minta em seu currculo, especialmente

sobre seu nvel de ingls... seria muito fcil
descobrir a verdade e isso pode arruinar sua
imagem.

- NEVER lie in your CV, specially about your

English level... it would be really easy to find out
the truth and it can ruim you reputation.

- Informaes Pessoais: se for enviar seu CV para

o exterior (principalmente EUA) no necessrio
colocar informaes com idade, estado civil,
documentos e filhos.

- Personal Information: if you are sending your

CV to other countries (specially USA, its not
necessary to put your age, marital status,
document numbers or children.

- Objetivo: headhunters e recrutadores gostam

que a pessoa tenha em mente o que ela est
buscando, no coloque vrios departamentos
diferentes e no seja to genrico como Finanas
ou Engenharia. Voc tambm pode colocar ao
invs disso, suas reas de expertise.

- Objective: headhunters and recruiters appreciate

that the candidate bear in mind what he/she is
looking for. Dont put a lot of departments and
avoid something too generic as Finance or
Engineering. You could also put your Areas of
Expertise.

CAPTULO II - Comeando a entrevista em Ingls / Starting the interview in English

TOPIC A
Costumeiramente o entrevistador (se brasileiro) ir utilizar alguma frase em ingls para anunciar
que a partir daquele momento, vocs passaro a se comunicar em ingls, estas frases geralmente
so:
- Now, lets switch to English / Agora vamos mudar para o ingls.
- Can we speak in English a little bit? / Podemos conversar um pouco em ingls?
- Now, lets continue the interview in English / Agora, vamos continuar a entrevista em ingls.
- Now Ill ask some questions in English / Agora, farei algumas perguntas em ingls
- Can I ask some questions in English? / Posso fazer algumas perguntas em ingls?
As respostas-padro para estes tipos de colocao, so as seguintes:

Antes de entrar em questes sobre sua experincia profissional ou perfil pessoal, o entrevistador
pode fazer algum tipo de pergunta cotidiana e corriqueira, para ter uma primeira impresso sobre
seu nvel de ingls, listamos agora algumas delas:
Hi, how are you doing? - How are you? / Ol, como vai voc?
POSITIVE ANSWERS:
Im doing great, thanks. How about you?
Im fine. I was looking forward to this interview.
! DICA: nunca simplesmente responda a pergunta com apenas uma palavra, tente ou fazer uma
pergunta na sequncia, ou responder com uma frase completa, isso demonstrar muito mais
confiana e fluncia.
Outras perguntas bsicas que podem aparecer so:
Where do you live / work now?
I live in Avenida Paulista, near MASP.
I work in Berrini, near Morumbi Shopping.
How do you go to work?
I go by car (bus / subway).
What do you like to do in your free time (or weekends)?
a) I like to go to the park (beach / the movies / theater).

! DICA: Antevendo perguntas que podem aparecer no decorrer da entrevista, por mais simples que
sejam, te deixaro mais tranquilo para responder as perguntas. Tenha em mente algumas respostas,
e sempre seja sincero nelas.

I love this book because I totally agree with the concepts it talks about, and believe they are indeed
what companies need to become great, however unfortunately I see so little of that being put in
practice in the companies.

CAPTULO III - Falando sobre seu si mesmo, personalidade / Talking about yourself, personality
TOPIC A
Aps algumas perguntas, o entrevistador pode querer saber algumas caractersticas gerais suas,
ainda sem entrar em detalhes tcnicos ou de formao. Em geral algumas perguntas que podem
aparecer so:
Tell me a little bit about yourself ? / Conte-me um pouco sobre voc
Identifique algumas das suas principais caractersticas e trabalhe nelas. Descreva suas qualidades, o
histrico profissional e suas habilidades, enfatizando aquelas mais relevantes a vaga almejada.
A pergunta pode ter complementos como:

Where did you study? What did you study? / Onde voc estudou? O que voc estudou?
What is your profession? / Qual sua profisso?
What are your hobbies? / Quais so os seus hobbies?

Para prepar-lo melhor, elaboramos um roteiro. Voc pode us-lo como referncia e substituir as
palavras sublinhadas por suas informaes pessoais. Utilize o anexo 1 para substituir por palavras e
caractersticas que mais tenham a ver com voc.

was born in Campinas. My family came to So Paulo when I was 15 years old. I graduated in Civil
Engineering at USP, after I graduated, I started working at Camargo Corra. I worked there for a
few years and then moved to my current job at Gafisa. Nowadays, I live in Itaim and I enjoy living
there, its a nice neighborhood, full of stores and restaurants.

Im married and I have two kids, Jorge and Ftima. On the weekends we usually travel to the beach.
I love reading books and listening to music, specially the Rolling Stones. I also like movies, my
favorite genre is Comedy, it makes feel more relaxed after a week full of work.

Im an extrovert, I like to make new friends and to talk to people. I am also very curious and I am
always trying to learn new things. I am very friendly, I just get angry with corruption and the trac
jams in So Paulo.
d) dados iniciais sobre profisso e educao:
I am an Eletronic Engineer. Now I am working at a company called AZ Systems, I am the manager
of my department. I studied Engineering at Unicamp from 1988 to 1993. I also studied English for 3
years. I really like what I do.
! DICA: Sempre esteja preparado para falar sobre si mesmo em ingls. fcil fazer este tipo de
preparao e voc poder treinar com antecedncia as melhores palavras para se utilizar e a
pronncia de cada uma delas.

TOPIC B
Agora que o entrevistador j te conhece, ele pode querer perguntar sobre seu histrico acadmico,
geralmente as perguntas no se estendem muito sobre esse assunto, segue abaixo uma relao de
perguntas que podem surgir e respostas adequadas:

CAPTULO IV - Experincia Profissional / Professional Experience

Chegamos parte mais importante da entrevista, o momento em que voc falar sobre sua carreira,
suas experncias e o ponto vital, suas realizaes e conquistas profissionais, ou seja, quais resultados
voc gerou em seus empregos anteriores, o que mais agregou valor em seus trabalhos!
Para se preparar para este captulo, muito importante uma reflexo sobre os resultados que voc
trouxe nos seus trabalhos anteriores. Realce aqueles pontos que so importantes para as vagas
qual est se candidatando.
Sugerimos que estude os tpicos de vocabulrio que esto nos anexos, incluindo profisses,
adjetivos, cargos e verbos importantes para seu currculo e preparao para as entrevistas.
Now, tell me about your professional experience. / Agora, conte-me sobre sua experincia
profissional.
Lets talk about your career / Vamos falar sobre sua carreira.
Talk about your professional backgroud / Fale sobre sua experincia profissional
Em alguma parte da entrevista, voc ter que descrever cronologicamente sua carreira, sugerimos
que utilize um roteiro, conforme fizemos no captulo anterior. Substitua as palavras destacadas com
suas informaes. Neste caso, boa parte das informaes depender de seu currculo, no entanto
seguem abaixo alguns exemplos de como voc pode preparar sua apresentao profissional.
EXEMPLO:
I started my career in 1996 as Marketing Assistant at BZ Company, I was responsible for analyzing
market intelligence data and customer statistics. I explored all the reports in detail and I identified
that customers would be willing to pay more for product Beta and it was possible to increase its
price. I worked there for 3 years.
! DICA: Utilize os verbos descritos no anexo, em uma entrevista extremamente importante,
destacar o que voc trouxe de benefcios para seu empregador. RESULTS, RESULTS,
RESULTS!
After this, in 1999 I was a Marketing Analyst of Robs Furniture company; my main tasks were all
related to branding aspects. I prepared advertisements for magazines. My main accomplishments
were to increase the wardrobe sales by 34% after my marketing campaign. I worked there for 4
years.
Finally, in 2003 I joined Finch Consulting Group as a Consultant Manager. My responsibilities
were to work with my clients in cost reduction programs. I developed an innovative way to save
costs and increase my clients gross margin. My colleagues told me I did an outstanding job. This is
how my career developed. Now Im looking for new opportunities.

Do you prefer an organized job with defined tasks, or a job without a defined scope? / Voc

I am a dynamic and creative person. Rules are important, but I like to find new and innovative ways
of doing things.

Respostas:
I am very proactive, motivated and determined. My determination helps me to achieve great results.
I am very positive, trustworthy and competent. I always get excellent results to my company.

Here is a though one, just be sincere and try to think about something that will not cause a very bad
impact, always bearing in mind the position you are applying! A lot of candidates say that there are
impatient or anxious, try to be more creative than this.

anymore.
I created an employees club, getting people from many areas of the company involved.
I headed a project to reduce costs, and helped to save R$ 1.5mi for the company in 2009.
I led a team of 5 people and my department had the best grade in the employees satisfaction survey.
Give an example of a situation in which things didnt go the way you imagined. / D um

Once I tried to implement a new IT system, but people were not ready for changes and it didnt
work very well in the beginning.

PLANOS PARA O FUTURO
Se as perguntas abaixo no foram feitas em portugus, certamente ficaram guardadas para serem
feitas em ingls.
What are your plans for the next 5 years? / Quais so seus planos para os prximos 5 anos?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? / Onde voc se v daqui 5 anos?
Essa pergunta serve para ver a coerncia nos seus planos, saber se qual o seu nvel de ambio e foco
na carreira, saber se voc uma pessoa preocupada com o aprendizado contnuo, entender suas
expectativas e verificar seu comprometimento futuro com a empresa.
O tempo verbal predominante ser o futuro: lembre-se de utlizar verbo auxiliar will (indicando
futuro).
will + verb in simple present
Respostas:
For the next 5 years I will take courses in Human Resources and Marketing. I want to improve my
knowledge in these fields.
I want to do an MBA at a top school and I want to be promoted to marketing manager.
In the next five years I want to have good results for the company and be promoted to manager.

CAPTULO VI TOP 12 QUESTIONS AND SOME MORE / AS TOP 12 PERGUNTAS

E OUTRAS MAIS
Algumas perguntas so feitas com bastante frequncia em entrevistas. Compilamos aqui as top 12 e
em seguida voc ver as melhores tcnicas para se responder a elas. Estude essas questes e prepare
as respostas antes da entrevista. Lembre-se de manter as respostas breves, relevantes e concisas.
Caso voc se depare com uma pergunta difcil, mantenha a calma, no fique de forma defensiva,
reflita antes de responder, e o mais importante de tudo: seja voc mesma! As entrevistas mais bem
sucedidas sempre foram quando o candidato esteve livre de qualquer nervosismo e conseguiu ser
ele mesmo!
1. Tell me about yourself. / Me fale de voc.
O entrevistador est tentando te conhecer e traar um perfil inicial sobre a sua pessoa. Identifique
suas principais caractersticas e fale delas. Descreva suas qualificaes, sua experincia professional
e principais habilidades, enfatizando as que sejam relevantes vaga almejada.
2. Tell me about your 3 greatest achievements. / Fale sobre suas 3 maiores realizaes.
Escolha as realizaes que sejam relacionadas ao trabalho e prefira as recentes. Identifique as
habilidades que voc usou para consegui-las e os resultados positivos que elas geraram para a
empresa. Por exemplo: One of my greatest achievements was to reduce the communication cost of
the company by USD 200 K yearly. This was the result of a 3 month project that I lead together
with two other colleagues, where we mapped all the communication costs, and identified saving
opportunities, and re-negotiated the contract with the main supplier, which brought us not only the
financial savings, but also gave us some extra perks such as some free mobile phones.
3. Are you happy with your career to date? / Voc est feliz com sua carreira at hoje?
Essa pergunta est relacionada a auto estima da pessoa, sua auto-confiana e suas aspiraes
profissionais. A resposta ideal SIM, seguida de uma explicao do que te faz feliz na sua carreira
at o presente momento. Se voc estagnou um pouco na sua carreira, ou sente que est indo
devagar, ento interessante elaborar um pouco mais sobre isso. O importante mostrar que voc
tem energia e garra para seguir em frente e avanar no futuro.
Nunca se mostre pessimista, frases como 'O mercado est muito ruim para essa profisso', ou 'O
meu chefe implica comigo e no me deixa crescer', 'Os meus colegas de trabalho so uns
incompetentes e eu preciso fazer tudo no meu departamento' so TERMINANTEMENTE
PROIBIDOS e vo te excluir da seleo. Ningum quer contratar um reclamo!

Me fale da situao mais difcil que voc j se deparou e como voc o encarou.

no nosso concorrente?
12. Why should we hire you? Or Why do you think you are the best candidate for this
position? / Por que deveramos contrat-lo(a) ? ou Por que voc acha que voc o melhor
candidato para essa vaga?
Nessa pergunta, o entrevistador quer saber se voc tem um raciocnio lgico para vender algo (nesse
caso, voc mesmo), e principalmente, como voc enxerga a vaga (se voc conseguiu ter uma noo
boa do que necessrio para suceder nela), e como voc se adequa a ela. Ela tambm serve para
verificar sua auto-estima no momento, afinal, voc precisa convenc-los de que a melhor pessoa
para preencher a vaga! A melhor resposta associar os requisitos da vaga s suas caractersticas, e
mostrar como voc a melhor pea para se colocar ali. interessante mostrar como voc se
visualiza na vaga e quais os resultados que poder trazer empresa.
