Drug interactions:
Factors related to the patient (Part I)
antiinflamatrios/antibiticos e ansiolticos/anestsicos locais sero abordadas no segundo e no terceiro arti-
go, respectivamente.
Descriptors: Dentstica; Interaes de medicamentos.
ABSTRACT
The aim of this review is to identify possible drug interactions which are important in pharmacological therapy
employed in general dental practice. Drug interactions resulting from individual factors such as pathological
conditions, age, obesity, etc., and from the association of two or more drugs will be reviewed and discussed in
a series of three papers. The first paper will evaluate the main factors related to individual characteristics, such
as alterations in the levels of plasma proteins, kidney and liver diseases, age and obesity. The second and third
papers will examine interactions of the drug-drug type for anti-inflammatory/antibiotic drugs and local anesthetics,
respectively.
