RESUMO

OBJETIVOS:
Descrever a eficácia do sistema intrauterino de levonorgestrel SIU-LNG como sistema
alternativo no tratamento das menorragias relacionadas ao mioma, observando sua relação
com a redução dos sintomas e do tumor, a fim de trazer novas alternativas de tratamento para
tal patologia.

METODOLOGIA:
Esta revisão bibliográfica integrativa foi elaborada a partir do emprego dos descritores:
“mioma intrauterino”, “leiomioma”, “menorragia”, SIU-LNG” e “SUA”. As buscas foram
realizadas nas bases de dados bibliográficos ScieLO, Google Acadêmico e Pubmed. Foram
selecionados 35 artigos dentre os 59 artigos baixados para análise, publicados entre 2003 e
2020, sem restrição de linguagem.

RESULTADOS:
O DIU-LNG foi aprovado, desde 2009 para tratamento de sangramento menstrual intenso pela
Food and Drug Administration, um órgão do governo dos Estados Unidos que controla os
alimentos e medicamentos. Apresenta bons resultados quanto a perda de sangue menstrual,
melhorando quadros de menorragia em decorrência de leiomiomas.

CONCLUSÃO:
Diante dos resultados apresentados serem promissores, novas pesquisas são bem-vindas
para corroborar e ratificar a eficácia do SIU-LNG, associado a outras terapias para juntos,
tratar os sintomas provocados por tal patologia, dar mais qualidade de vida à mulher,
estabilizar e até reduzir miomas uterinos e, principalmente, controlar e inibir a menorragia,
evitando, dessa forma, as intervenções cirúrgicas, mais invasivas e traumáticas.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES:
To describe the efficacy of the levonorgestrel SIU-LNG intrauterine system as an alternative
system in the treatment of myoma-related menorrhagia, observing its relationship with the
reduction of symptoms and tumor, in order to bring new treatment alternatives for such
pathology.

METHODS:
This integrative bibliographic review was prepared based on the use of the descriptors:
"intrauterine myoma", "leiomyoma", "menorrhagia", SIU-LNG "and" SUA ". The searches were
carried out in the ScieLO, Google Scholar and Pubmed bibliographic databases. 35 articles
were selected from the 59 articles downloaded for analysis, published between 2003 and
2020, without language restriction.

RESULT:
The IUD-LNG has been approved since 2009 for treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding by the
Food and Drug Administration, an agency of the United States government that controls food
and medicine. It has good results in terms of menstrual blood loss, improving menorrhagia due
to leiomyomas.

CONCLUSION:
In view of the promising results presented, new researches are welcome to corroborate and
ratify the effectiveness of SIU-LNG, associated with other therapies to together, treat the
symptoms caused by such pathology, give more quality of life to women, stabilize and even
reduce uterine fibroids and, mainly, control and inhibit menorrhagia, thus avoiding more
invasive and traumatic surgical interventions.
