The gerund can be used for present actions, that is, things that are

happening at this moment, and also to describe past actions.

To for the gerund, we use the following structure:

Formation of the Gerund in Portuguese

Gerund in Portuguese. To form the gerund in Portuguese we need to use the
verb To Be in the present or past + the main verb with NDO at the end.
Examples in the Present: Eu estou estudando. Examples in the Past: Eu estava
estudando.
