Formas afirmativas simples:
Em frases afirmativas, "to do" é usado como um verbo
principal para indicar a ação.
Por exemplo:
"I do my homework."
(Eu faço minha lição de casa.)
"She does her job well."
(Ela faz seu trabalho bem.)
Formas negativas:
Em frases negativas, "to do" é usado em conjunto com
"not" para negar a ação do verbo principal. Isso é
comum no Simple Present e em outras formas verbais.
Por exemplo:
"I do not (don't) like broccoli."
(Eu não gosto de brócolis.)
"They do not (don't) speak French."
(Eles não falam francês.)
Perguntas:
Para formular perguntas em inglês, "to do" é usado como
um verbo auxiliar. Na maioria das perguntas, ele aparece no
início da frase, antes do sujeito.
Por exemplo:
"Do you like chocolate?"
(Você gosta de chocolate?)
"Does she speak Spanish?"
(Ela fala espanhol?)
Ênfase:
"To do" também pode ser usado para enfatizar uma ação ou
tornar uma afirmação mais forte. Nesse caso, "to do"
aparece antes do verbo principal.
Por exemplo:
"I do enjoy a good book."
(Eu realmente gosto de um bom livro.)
"She does work hard."
(Ela realmente trabalha duro.)
