as dificuldades tcnicas.

The idea of a team for the WPX SSB 2016 began with HB9OCR Marco
Hardmeier visit to Brazil. From Switzerland, Marco is a multilingual op and has
participated in a lot of HamRadio activities in more than sixty countries around the
world. He arrived in Brazil and was hosted at PY2NY home (they did V26B together
in 2012) at the beginning of his trip, just before the WPX SSB.
As always, authorization, and more important, passion push incentive were
the 'moto' from PS2T owner, PY5EG OMS, for the use of one of the Araucaria DX
Group stations - PS2T in our case, based in Araraquara (SP).
Because WPX SSB coincide with Easter celebrations, however, we could not
rely on the 'expertise' of Atilano at the competition, being himself a recognized
worldwide 'EXPERT' in the SSB competitions.
As 'mature' and experienced as PY5EG, OH2MM / PY2ZEA proposed to
replace it. Ville toasted us with his typical good humor and joy. And then the
competition took a very nice course.
The whole team was completed as follows: PY2DJ, PY2KC, PY2NY,
HB9OCR, OH2MM and PU2RSD. Danilo assured technical support. Marco fiancee,
Cristina, and PU2VYT (PY2NY YL) went to the market and ensured bananas
enough to strengthen the souls of the combatents.
Was curious and interesting watch Ville and Marco giving some reports in
Finnish, German, English, French, Italian, Spanish ... This, whether we like it or not,
draws a little bit more attention to the station and encourages contact with natives
of certain countries.
The decision about being "Multi-Two" was not difficult, because more than
compete, everyone's was looking to operate as much as possible.
That done, OH2MM initially set the target of 5,000 contacts, not to mention
scores - Ville also set the scale of operation for each operator / shift.
The first three hours were conducted in both radios by HB9OCR & PY2NY,
reaching more than 950 QSOs, which left everyone excited and surprised.
Unfortunately, this initial rush was not maintained. Operators shifts began to
switch and propagation said good bye. When the sun rose on Saturday PS2T was
suffering to double that initial count. In fact, it took almost the entire morning to get
2,000 contacts under final drive under PY2KC & PY2DJ shift.
Hope was all deposited in 10 meters, or even some 40 meters (double points).
Here has not been very successful, too: band of 10 meters lame, but at the end,
was superior in PS2T if proportion compared to the other major stations in the
world. At 40 meters, the propagation also left much to be desired, even with all the
firepower in PS2T the big antenna MonstIR.
From Saturday to Sunday with PY2NY & OH2MM, there was an increase
searching for multipliers. Also emphasized, the dispute with HG7T in the same
category (at least in the public 'scores' list in the internet).
It was easy to know that, to overcome the Hungarians, PS2T should increase
multipliers number and the target was set to 1,500, with no thought about breaking
the national record, over 1,600 different prefixes in this category M / 2.
Good to remember the solar cycle 25 began its downward times ago!
On Sunday during the day PY2KC & HB9OCR & PY2DJ alternated positions
at the "wheel", already focused on multipliers and following all the time the HG7T
performance HG7T, who was behind PS2T early in the afternoon.
Interesting to note that, two hours before the end of the contest, the
Hungarians stopped to post their results, which caused some anxiety among PS2T
operators. Only after some time, PS2T felt that European activity had ended,
probably because lack of conditions there on their side.
For the final two hours, PY2KC & HB9OCR took seats, which increased the
'pile-ups'. At same time, using the second VFO and packet", began to increase
multipliers, reaching the goal initially stipulated.
It was fun to follow the "Multiplier Dance" performed by HB9OCR every time
he did something new! Or jumps and shouts of PY2KC under the same
circumstances.
When was a little to the end, we opened two bottles of Brazilian white
sparkling wine, to celebrate the success of this multinational meeting and especially
the 'score' achieved with effective participation of everybody.
In fact, the final result exceeded all expectations, even as the score by itself
(which will certainly be corrected by the organization).
There were no serious problems, with the exception of:
1) Interaction station 1 on station 2, when the recorded message of "CQ" was
transmitted. PTT doesn't disable the VOX at station 2, and with this, the CQ
message on Radio 2 goes out with the 'background' from station 1.
2) Linear OM3500 continues jumping to 80m, while in the AUTO position. You
have to put it in MAN as soon as you transfer from a band to another, after auto
tuning, to avoid this jump.
3) Redistribution of antennas between different towers can eliminate
interference between stations, definitively. Although this interference is minimal and
only occurs in special situations, it is something that can cause the reduction of
'ratings'.
4) Part of the operators expressed interest in using VOX, which is not possible
due of the closed-together radios in Multi-Two operation. The 'foot-switches' need to
be replaced.
Danilo PU2RSD was great receiving the team Friday night, and following the
initial hours of competition. Always being careful, and available for technical
difficulties.
Festive closing came with toast in the 'shack' anteroom and continued with all
operators heading to Positano Pizzaria, downtown Araraquara.
Atilano PY5EG, absent for Easter party, also accompanied all the events, as if
was there. It is clearly shown that PS2T staton is "your face" commitment to
efficiency and high productivity and wasnt different this time.
All participants are grateful to PY5EG about his concession.
Our thanks to those who made the call and were included in the log, and
apologize to those who tried and failed we are sorry.
