Welcome to Carnival 2017. Filled with
happiness we got to the 8th edition of the
Parades Guide. The first and only Marques de
Sapucas booklet. This edition, as well as the
others, is special, result of hard working and a
lot of dedication.
We walked the road of learning and creativity,
we created a digital environment to better
suit our public... Our website is a great
communication network. There, you not only
can see photos of the RD actions from all the
editions but also post your own photos and
share the unforgettable moments
of your carnival.

Welcomed by all, be you a local or a
tourist, welcome to Rio de Janeiro.
The marvellous city is the stage of one
of the biggest spectacle in open sky in
the world: the Samba Schools Parades.
On Carnival the Avenue is the perfect
scenario to evolution of ideas put into
practice by researchers, carnival experts,
smiths and carpenter, seamstresses,
choreographers, rhythm experts and
writers but the allegories splendour that
emerges from the entrance of Marques
de Sapucai, the greatness of reporters
coverage, the contingent of professionals
of Sambodromos infrastructure , the
power of the parading s chant the echoes
to the drum sounds, wouldnt have the
same repercussion if the humans warmth
of the public were missing.
It is exactly to value this spectators that
the Carnival Parades Guide came to its
8th edition, allowing more access to the
information around every school, their
scripts and the creative power.

rhythm and the components gusto
promise to contaminate the crowd and
move the revelers with the joyful, fun and
cultural themes.
Through all the year, thousands of
professionals dedicated time and effort
to offer the crowd the best possible
result on Marqus de Sapuca. Lets
have a lot of fun and applaud the stars of
the greatest popular party in the world!
Nothing better than being able to
follow the parades of seven samba
schools that are completely crazy
about Rios carnival: Acadmicos do

do Viradouro; Imprio da Tijuca; Unio

AMANHECER DE MANGUEIRA...
MANGUEIRAS DAWN
Nascida no morro, filha e neta de
mangueirenses, Tnia Bisteka
Mangueira de corpo e alma! Todos
os caminhos a levam ao samba, que
pulsa de suas veias, hereditariamente,
de seus avs: Jos e Maria Balalaika.
Desde menina, entrelaada s nuances
poticas da dana do samba, o brilho de
seus olhos reflete as cores e formas de
seus pais Cerisvaldo Lima (Menininho)
e Maria das Graas (Gracinha) que
juntos desfilavam como passistas
da Mangueira ao florescer de seus
singelos movimentos, espontaneidade
que contorna a vida de Bisteka e a
transformou numa bela sambista.
Born in the slum, daughter and
granddaughter, Tnia Bisteka is
Mangueira of body and soul! All the
ways leads to Samba that pulses in her

veins inheritably of her grandparents:
Jos and Maria Balalaika. Since she was
a little girl, intertwined in poetic nuances
of samba dance, the glow of her eyes
reflect the colours and ways that her
parents Cerisvaldo Lima (Menininho)
and Maria das Graas (Gracinha) that
together paraded together as samba
dancers from Mangueira - at blooming
of their simple movements, spontaneity
that contours the life of Bisteka and
turned her into a beauty samba dancer.

BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN!
O amor pela dana, sobretudo pela
dana do samba deu o tom para
algo que, inicialmente, eu no sabia
exatamente o que era, mas sentia
que, como um sonho, seria realizado...
E foi danando profissionalmente,
apresentando-me com a Mangueira em
vrias cidades brasileiras e em pases
da Europa que, em 1999, com algumas
amigas passistas, resolvi participar
do concurso de Rainha da Bateria
daquele ano. E como eu pressenti... Fui
eleita. Era eu a Rainha da Bateria da
minha Estao Primeira de Mangueira!
O desfile foi mgico, deslumbrante...
jamais esquecerei os aplausos, o
Setor 1 chamando pelo meu nome,
enquanto eu era aquecida pela bateria
e acolhida pela poesia do nosso samba
de enredo. Uma vez Rainha, sempre
Rainha. Obrigada, Mangueira. | The love
for dance, especially for samba dance
gave tune to something that initially I
didnt know exactly what it was, but
I felt as if a dream would come true
and it was by professionally dancing,
presenting myself with Mangueira in
many Brazilian cities and European
countries that in 1999, along with some
friends, samba dancers, I decided to
take part in a contest of percussion
queen of that year. And as I felt, I was
elected I was the percussion queen of
my Estao Primeira de Mangueira! The
parade was magical, gorgeous, I wont
ever forget the applauses, the first
sector calling for my name while I was
being warm up by the percussion and
welcomed by the poetry of our samba
theme. Once queen, always queen.

MANGUEIRA WOMAN
Sou Mangueira at morrer. Sou uma
Mulher Guerreira de Mangueira. Assim
como todas as mulheres da Verde e
Rosa. Temos um legado, temos histria,
temos uma misso. Amamos nossa
escola e nossa comunidade acima de
tudo. Mangueira a minha verdade, a
minha paixo. Ser lembrada como uma
Mulher de Mangueira uma honra. | I
am mangueira until I die. I am a warrior
woman from Mangueira, such as all
the women of green and pink. We have
a legacy, we have history, we have a
mission. We love our samba school and
our community above all. Mangueira
is my truth, it is my passion, being
remembered as a Mangueiras woman
is an honour.
TNIA BISTEKA...
TANIA IS BISTEKA
Beleza tudo! Concorda? Risos... Eu
trabalho com a esttica feminina:
depilao, dermopigmentao, corte e
penteado. Mas no cronograma da vida, o
meu maior tempo eu dedico ao carnaval
da Mangueira, dirigindo o almoxarifado no
barraco da escola. Um sonho? J realizei
vrios... Mas minha meta para 2017
iniciar a minha faculdade de Nutrio.
Beauty is everything! agree? Laughters
I work with females aesthetics: waxing,
dermopigmentation, haircut and hairdos.
But in lifes schedule, my longest time
I dedicated to Mangueiras carnvial...
directing the stockroom of the samba
schools shed. A dream? Many of mine
has come true ...but my resolution to
2018 is to start in a nutrition college.

A TIP FROM BISTEKA:
Respeitar o Pavilho um dever! Isso
significa respeitar os mais velhos, porque
antiguidade posto no carnaval. Assim h
uma simbiose natural do conhecimento:
os mais novos respeitam e aprendem
com os mais velhos e os mais velhos
donos do conhecimento mantm viva a
tradio. | Respect the pavilion is a duty!
That means respect the elderly, because
antiquity is grade in Carnival. Thus there
is a natural symbiosis of knowledge:
the younger respect and learn from
the elderly and the eldest owners of
knowledge keep the tradition alive.
